Endangered Species African Ounce series

Afternoon everyone ….

Finding this coin in the box I currently have from my private security place brings back memories. This is when I had just gotten back into stacking hard again. I was buying all different series that I liked.

This series without a doubt fit into that category for sure. A few years later as life got more hectic, it was impossible for me to not only track all the new releases of the series that I was collecting, but to find the funds to buy them all.

During covid, I did a fairly deep dive into my collection and decided to part with many different series that i had collected. These weren’t numismatic coins or graded coins. They were semi numismatic series such as the Perth Mint kookaburra, the koala, Chinese pandas, etc.

The series are endless and I’ve made the decision to stop buying endless series.

The coin I’m going to share today is a 2013 Rwanda African Ounce silver coin.

Here is so info and specs:

This silver coin is the 6th in a series for the Rwanda African Wildlife. This coin is encased in a special square capsule, and also bears the F15 Privy Mark as part of the Fabulous 15 Collectors Set.

The obverse of this coin features the National Seal of Rwanda. The present National Seal was adopted in 2001. The seal combines different elements that symbolize the unity of the country. The reverse on this coin has a motif with the outline of Africa textured to show the terrain and an adult cheetah and her cub.

Now the coin…

It sounds like that was probably a smart move. Especially when you are only dealing with limited funds. I think I would focus on the ones that were more of a fixed run as well.

If there are striking silver coins this is one of them. I like that it has the African continent and at the same time its relationship with the flora and fauna.

It seems that there are more and more collectors and I think it is a good idea beyond how interesting it is to collect these pieces.

Rwanda coins are always priced higher than other coins. I only collect their Lunar Ounce and Nautical Ounce.
The African Wildlife is truly amazing!
