Finally approved….

Afternoon everyone….

If you’ve been following my posts, there have been a few about me wanting to build a new wood shop on my property.

Nearly two months ago now, I submitted the paperwork to my towns building department for a zoning variance approval.

Quick recap from past posts. I own two separate lots the one the house is on and one directly next door. The town required me to merge the two lots together in order to submit for a zoning variance. Which required a survey.

I got that done and submitted the paperwork. Over the past several weeks I’ve called and emailed about the status of my approval. Each time they needed addition stuff from me.

I had to take pictures of the lot, then pictures with measurements of where the shop will go. Distance from edge of property, distance from the house, distance from the neighbors property.

WELL…..

Late yesterday when I stopped by the building department. I finally got my approval.

There are still many things that need to get done before construction can happen. There are four trees that need to be removed, and stumps ground down. I need to find a contractor to get the footings and pad poured.

But atleast I’m approved.

It did take a long time over 6 weeks. But I’m itching to get it going now.

Congratulations, what is important here is that, the approval has been giving to you.
You can have all others things added later.

Thanks. No doubt, but the trees have to come down before the build. They are in the footprint of the building.

Now you build it.
Then you file for an Inspection and pay some fee before you occupy your brand new shop!

I’m not building it. I don’t have time to stop working on the jobs I already have signed. I get to write off the entire thing as a business expense so it’s all good.

Congrats on this, it sounds like a great idea considering the type of work you do.

It’s not the size I’d love to have but it will do just fine for me. I’m very happy to finally get this going.
