Once again @kerrislravenhill made me do it….

Afternoon everyone……

That “Bloody Raven” has the same taste as I do in ship designed coins and rounds. Well not that long ago she did a post on this really cool coin that I had never seen before.

Well it immediately went on my to find list……

The coin itself has a limited mintage of 30,000 coins. Well that’s not 100% accurate. Why? Because 8,000 of these coins were carded and only sold for a specific event. So the general public only saw 22,000 of these coins.

I was able to track down one of those 8,000 carded versions. I’m really happy that I did because it’s really cool.

Here are the specs on the coin from Numista:

That is a nice sparkling piece. I have a few silver pieces but find it hard to catalog all my coins need to do the cataloging part and arrange them properly.

That is really cool! I saw one the other day that was a skull and crossbones design. I was going to say something about it, but then I noticed it was from 2022, so I figured I was way behind the curve on that one!

We all learn stuff from each other. My expertise is US coinage so I occasionally miss some cool world coins now and then. But I do try keep up with them also.

You are most welcomed @silverd510 san.
I'm wondering if there would be a reciprocal Japanese coin commemorating the the arrival of the Portuguese. Or perhaps as the dawning of the arquebuses or matchlock firearm.

Very cool coin. That's an important date. Not only when the first westerners arrived in Japan, but when guns were introduced, which would be embraced by Nobunaga and dismissed by the other warlords, allowing him to conquer all of them and most of Japan before his assassination.
