Gold continues to be the principal way for individuals to buy and protect their wealth. Nothing is more sought-after than gold among precious metals. Gold coins from sovereign mints are a popular choice among gold buyers. Because a central bank and a sovereign state guarantee the weight and purity of gold coins, they are a common choice.

Gold coins are minted annually to meet buyers' demand, so there is almost never a lack of gold coins available to anyone who wants to buy gold in this form.


The Lady Liberty design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens is depicted on the obverse of the Gold Eagle, the most well-known gold coin in America. On the back, Jennie Norris created a brand-new image. A left-profile relief of the eagle's head is depicted in the picture. They are available in weights of 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz eagle coins.


James Earle Fraser's Buffalo Nickel design was resurrected as the American Gold Buffalo coin. It is exclusively available in 1 oz of gold and was the United States Mint's first 24-karat gold coin ever. On the reverse of the coins, an American bison is depicted in left-profile relief. The obverse of the coins contains a right-profile picture of a Native American figure.

The gold buffalo's are among my favorites, but they always have such a high premium! I love the Saint-Gaudens design it's a true work of art. It's going to take some work getting used to the new reverse though. Again a great design but letting go of the old one is going to be hard!

I think it is for most Americans. The Buffalo Nickle is well loved, @silvertop. And double that for Liz, who loves anything Native American!
It was a win for the US Mint to choose that design for our.9999-fine gold!

i have yet to buy any gold hehehehe

but the other day when I was looking to buy some silver - i noticed that gold price was the best - more than paladium and platinum too!!! shocking!!! hehehe
