Blooming Through the Hard Days —

avatar
(Edited)

I’ve been watching my orchid these past few weeks, almost the way you watch your own body after it’s been through something hard.

It started with one small spike pushing its way out, slow and determined.

IMG_2127.jpeg

I didn’t expect much from it at first — just like I didn’t expect much from myself right after surgery. Everything felt tender, uncertain, and honestly a little unpredictable. But the orchid kept going.

One flower opened!

IMG_2114.jpeg

And then another!
Two blooms now,
with a third waiting in the wings,
taking its time.

IMG_2123.jpeg

Healing isn’t loud or dramatic.

It doesn’t announce itself. It just shows up in tiny ways — a day with less discomfort, a moment where you breathe a little easier, a small stretch you couldn’t do last week. My orchid reminded me of that. It didn’t rush. It didn’t apologize for being slow. It simply grew when it was ready.

IMG_2124.jpeg

Recovery has been its own strange journey.

Some days I feel like that first bloom — fragile but proud to be here. Other days, I’m more like the unopened bud, still gathering strength, still figuring out how to unfold again. Surgery takes more out of you than you expect, and the healing afterward asks for more patience than you think you have. But I’m learning. I’m still on the mend, still finding my footing, still giving myself grace.

IMG_2140.jpeg

Watching those flowers open felt like...

a quiet reminder that progress doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful. The orchid didn’t bloom all at once. It didn’t try to impress anyone. It simply did what it was meant to do, one step at a time. And maybe that’s the lesson I needed — that it’s okay to move slowly, to rest, to let things unfold at their own pace.

IMG_2139.jpeg

I’ve spent so much time trying to “bounce back” quickly,

trying to feel like myself again overnight. But bodies don’t work like that, and neither do orchids. They heal in layers. They bloom in stages. They surprise you when you’re not looking. And even when the process feels uneven, it’s still progress.

IMG_2138.jpeg

Now, when I look at those two open flowers and the third one waiting, I see more than just a plant doing what plants do. I see my own journey in the healing process. I’m not fully there yet, but I’m getting there. Slowly, steadily, just like my orchid.

I know that healing is happening.

Some days are really difficult, but they also teach us to become stronger and appreciate the little things in life. I love how this reminds us that even during hard times, there is still room to grow, learn, and keep moving forward. 🌸 Life may not always be easy, but every season has something beautiful to teach us.

I'm sorry you had to undergo surgey and it's not going as fast as you'd like. Still, it sounds like you're staying positive and looking at it realistically with a good outlook going forward. I'll be praying for a quick recovery for you!

My Orchid began blooming back in late June lasting the remainder of July, last week I started losing a few of the blooms. Beautiful while they lasted. I'm considering getting another one these orchid plants, likely a different species and primary color.

Always, healing with Love 🤗🌺❤️

Oh, how pretty your orchids! It must love it there.
I love white, and purple, and pink orchids, but I love white most of all. Sometimes I keep the dried blooms!

A beautiful orchid and a beautiful analogy regarding yourself and healing sis. All of us expect more of ourselves than we should at times, and most of us feel like we should just get up and get on with it. In the past, I've done exactly that and paid the price by taking longer to heal because of it. Slow and steady wins the race! Celebrate with little wins!

God's got this and He is with you every step of the way! Love ya much sis! 🤗😘😍❤️🌹 !LADY !HOPE !INDEED !BBH !PIMP
