Market Friday in Sonoma, California

It's Friday one again! And it is time for my all-time favorite tags!

Don Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo, famed Californio statesman and general, founded Sonoma in 1835.

A friend learned that I was visiting. The history of our friendship goes all the back when I would regularly come for vacations from Hawaii.

She called me up and asked that we meet in Sonoma Plaza.

You can see her reflected on the right (and I am on the left), when I took a photo of this window display!


We actually bought a bottle of wine and some appetizers. We spent catching up with one another as we sat on one of the picnic tables in the square.



The town square is itself small and quaint. Shops line up the entire square.


There are galleries, the old cheese factory, olive oil, wineries, restaurants, all sorts of shops... I'll tell you more when I have the time to post all photos.


The local folks as well as people from all over come the bay area come and visit to eat their meals, afternoon teas, wine tasting, shopping, and just to browse the stores.





Sonoma is just an hour away from San Francisco. We have, I think, about 500 wineries down here (per reports), and lots of farm-to-table dining at restaurants run by acclaimed chefs, farmers, and winemakers.

It was wonderful! I when I came here last, I wasn't able to see her! This time around, I made it a point to reserve the while afternoon with her.
There so many shops to visit, but since I was there to catch up with her, there was hardly time to take photos, hahaha!

Yes, it's a very, very old town! I enjoy it. Almost all houses surrounding the square has been converted to shops. I'll try to write about it more.

Who wouldn't want to browse such an amazing stores with beauty. I love those pictures too. They look attractive and one could easily visit there if you want.

It looks beautiful there, sis! I am thinking I need a change of scenery, but will unlikely get anywhere until next month when we head down to our son's town home to look in on his kitty as he and his wife are visiting her parents in Hungary.

The shops look interesting too. I could lose myself there for quite a while, I imagine. Lovely pics.😊

How nice you got to see your friend! I have a friend that has a vineyard just below San Fransisco. I truly love the area! It is peaceful and lovely to look at. Even though it is a wonderful place to spend time, it truly is all about the friend, isn't it?

You can always visit Sonoma, but, you can't always see your friend. The table setting, the atmosphere, and everything about the visit were perfect. The old galleries, cheese shop... oh, what a little haven for fun! Do you miss the area? I mean you worked close to there for years, yes?

The house is about 35 minutes drive to Sonoma.
Twice a year I have to take care of business!

What a spectacular area. I love Sonoma! I lived in the Bay Area for quite a while, then in the central valley, in the town of Davis. I truly miss it. We got married at a winery in the coastal hills and then spent our honeymoon on the coast and in the wine country. This really takes me back! (Now I live in Minnesota. Sigh!)
