What would be a year without a dragon coin?

Dragons are creatures of mythology and regarded in distinct ways in varying cultures.

In Eastern mythology specifically the Chinese, dragons are symbols of good luck and good fortune. To determine the dragon's power and knowledge, all you had to do is find out the number of fingers on their claws. The greatest of all dragons have five claws!


In Western culture the dragons are shown with wings and they breathe fire. The tip of their tail is usually a weapon.

Here are four government issued bullion coins in 2021 with dragon designs.

2021 British Silver Valiant Coin

3rd year of issue for the British Silver Valiant, contains 1 Troy oz of .9999 pure silver in BU condition, issued a face value of 2 Pound sterling (GBP) by the Great Britain.

2021 Australia Myths & Legends Silver Dragon

The first coin in the Myths & Legends Series of the Perth Mint. In Eastern mythology specifically the Chinese, dragons are symbols of good luck and good fortune. All of the Perth Mint dragons are Eastern dragons. They are long, elongated, snake-like figures that and do not have wings.

2021 St. Helena Silver Chinese Trade Dollar

The first Chinese Trade Dollars were produced in 1889, sixteen years after the U.S. Trade Dollars. The design of the coin included a dragon thus the coins were known as the Dragon Dollar. This sovereign coin is backed by the St. Helena government.

2021 Australia 1 oz Silver Dragon Rectangular Coin

Great! Which one do you prefer, round or the rectangle.
Both are coins.
The first time that the rectangular coin was introduce, I rebelled!
How can Australia destroy the meaning of a coin?
And then they came up with triangular coins!!!
I bought it just the same. Now four years after, the coin is growing on me!

Dragons are undoubtedly one of the most favorite themes on coinage. I am amazed at the large variety of styles and designs of this powerful mythological beast. When I think dragons I'm always reminded of @slacker-stacker and Silver (Baggens) Dragons who are active on IG.

I only purchase what is available!
I seldom have time for IG anymore.
With the many things going with my personal life (as always) I really have time for only one.

La moneda representa uno de los activos de un país, más allá de su valor nominal, su valor simbólico delega en ella el respaldo a sus ciudadanos. The currency represents one of the assets of a country, beyond its nominal value, its symbolic value delegates to it the support to its citizens. The iconography of this coin is great, very artistic and condenses one of the most sacred symbols of the West, because the dragon is a guardian, its wisdom keeps the strength to protect ... I have a fascination with dragons. Grace for sharing this interesting historical review.
