I have no doubt about it... I am a beautiful person, in and out! I have everything going for me. But if a traditional person looks at my life, they would say, "Hmmm.. perhaps. Except one."

My love life

Once, a long time ago, I thought I fell in love. He was handsome, a good person, and a real hunk of a guy. If there is was anything a girl could wish for in a guy, he had it. We went for two and a half years.

He asked me to marry him just as soon as a year had passed since my Daddy died (which left me orphaned). Not knowing any better, I said "Yes".

I was 23 years old, fresh out of college. What else is a girl to do?

Pixabay

We went home to Hawaii, two weeks prior to the day. Many days on the beach... it made me think long and hard.

To make a long story short, a day to the wedding, I decided that it was not for me. It was the most difficult decision I had to make in my life, and I am glad I did it.

I will spare you the details of what went through my head weeks before the wedding. And I will spare you the drama that went on immediately after I made the decision, and long after that. I leave it to your imagination! Anything you can think of is pretty much what happened, give or take this and that.

Twenty years after

Here I am twenty years after.

Let me see. I have traveled locally...

Pixabay

Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Texas, Minnesota, Iowa, Louisiana, Illinois, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina, Washington DC, New Jersey, New York, Massachusettes, California, and Hawaii.

and internationally.

Pixabay

Mexico, Canada, Germany, Poland, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Spain, Portugal, The Bahamas, China, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines.

I bought my first home at 24 years old and named it "A Bit of Paradise". I lived a beautiful life of 14 years there. I still regret selling my first home.

I bought and moved to another house. I met the stacking community while in that house... it was a turning point in my life! I eventually sold that house (not an ideal house) after three short years and bought this house that I currently have.

I watched this house being built from the ground up. It includes an income property!

I've had three homes, and I think this will be my home until a retire! But... who knows!

I have had one job ever since I joined the workforce. I worked myself and climb to my current position. Nope, I have no intention of moving jobs, if they would have me. Although beset with challenges, the job gets easier as the years go by. And the benefits are unheard of at my level. I cannot be but grateful!

Friends

I kept close friends from college... sorority sisters. I have no real-life sisters, and they have become my family. There are 10 of us, 5 are single.

My friends saved me during the biggest drama of my life.

We've been through so much together, I think it will be hard to break us. School stuff, relationships, work stuff, weddings, births, baptism, birthdays, even deaths, travels, food... you name it, we have gone through it.

And the secret... we take each other for who they are and what they will become in the future!

Routine

Precovid, my usual routine (other than work Mondays through Fridays) was on Tuesday and Thursday I go lap swim; Fridays I get together with a small circle of friends; Saturdays I feed the hungry; Sundays is Holy Mass; every 1st Wednesdays of the month I give talk to ladies of a woman's club. I go to the salon once or twice a month! I am slowly getting back into that routine

Then I have my chores at home.

I bathe three tiny dogs once a week!

I do grocery once a week.

Other than cooking, I bake three batches of bread once a week: rustic bread, 2 loaves of sliced bread, and 24 rolls.

Then there is the laundry to do twice a week: clothes and linen. Ironing is done on laundry days.

I complete a clean-up-chores a day and weekly clean the house. I generally keep the house very clean, and any day can be a party day!

Hobbies

Stacking is a hobby, and so is gardening. I go to the shooting range every 6 months. A while back when I became a Yorkie Mum, I took on hobby breading. Prior to that, I was an equestrian. Both hobbies I abandoned, for lack of time.

Pixabay

Once in a while, my sorority sisters and I attend concerts, play golf, take hot air balloon rides.. among other things.

And three years ago I started to blog.

So ...

Between travel, friends, routine, and hobbies, I don't miss anything in life, except my parents and brothers. Lately, I had some health issues... but who doesn't?

I've had cancer several years back. That was another difficult time in my life. And for a while, I underwent depression! I've had three successful surgeries, and I'm in remission for 4 years now.

It was then that I realize that my life.. as is.. is best... lived as is. All the "I should have ... I shouldn't have...", have vanished away.

I like your optimistic view of life. With the ups and downs, you took it all and shaped it to be what you want.

I see gratitude in your story. For me, that's one of the best way to enjoy living - gratitude and optimism. Thank you for sharing your story. 🙂🍀

Sis, you've shared with me various tidbits of your adventures in life in the past, tis but a summary but what to say? Perhaps one wiser has already wise enough to have lived it? So many...

"Death smiles at us all, all a man can do is smile back." ~ Marcus Aurelius

"Carpe diem! Rejoice while you are alive; enjoy the day; live life to the fullest; make the most of what you have. It is later than you think." ~ Horace

"Decide that life is good and you are special. Decide to enjoy today. Decide that you will live life to the fullest now, no matter what. Trust that you will change what needs changing, but also decide that you're not going to put off enjoying life just because you don't have everything you want now. Steadfastly refuse to let anything steal your joy. Choose to be happy...and you will be." ~ Donna Fargo

"Don't be afraid that your life will end, be afraid that it will never begin!" ~ Henry David Thoreau

"Always, with love 🤗 🌺 💖" ~ Your Sis

I think of my brother. Theirs is a life of love of country, valor, gallantry, braveness....
Mommie died of a heartache after another heartache... my Daddy losing the loves of his life and two of his sons... he could live long enough for me.
I live for my family. And when it ends, I have lived fully with no regrets.

What a beautiful post!!!!!

I am so glad someone actually did this one - and you did it brilliantly!
You are a seriously busy lady, lol - but among all that "busy-ness" you exude an enormous amount of gratitude. It is ALWAYS so inspiring to see someone who is truly in love with their life and also ACCEPTS the "now" with grace.

I generally keep the house very clean, and any day can be a party day!

LOVE THAT, lol!!!

You have been through a lot, achieved a lot and will definitely do a whole lot more if you retain that fire in your soul!

I respect every decision to make. Although on my part, I'm not saying you should do the same. lol
Maybe I will feel lonely living alone. I always want my family to be around. I'm concerned about what they've been through especially my mum.

I'm stating my kind of life that I want. But reading your story I didn't feel loneliness. I'm guessing you're happy with the life you have now. I wish you happiness in life.

That must have been heartbreaking! I lost a whole year of photos once-2005- and it still makes me so sad. Now everything I have is web-based, I can access them from anywhere and I don't depend on any device to continue working.

You have done more then most people would have and you have had many good times and still are along the way with no regrets all is left now is to enjoy and cherish every moment and like you say in the last paragraph could not be any truer...

"It was then that I realize that my life.. as is.. is best... lived as is. All the "I should have ... I shouldn't have...", have vanished away."

WELL SAID A GOOD MOTTO TO BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT 👍

I have always loved the bits and pieces that make up your story not because they are all beautiful, but they are part of you and shows me what a strong woman you really are. I have always known that you are a strong independent and rejoicingly amazing person oh, but there are things that or not apparent to me and for this show of love that you have given all of us by sharing so much of this. I just know that there is more to you and meets the eye. To be so content in life, especially in these days of uncertainty is so heartwarming. Thank you so much for sharing yourself and just know I love you!
