Where do you keep cash at home?

Cash may be your best line of defense against a national emergency or tragedy, if circumstances make it impossible for you to withdraw money from the bank. It's common advice to keep some cash on hand, but not excessive amounts. But where can you keep cash at home, aside from a safe?

Some suggestions I found on the internet are:

- between a framed photograph's cardboard backing and the actual picture.

- a book that is hollowed-out.

- in your medicine cupboard inside a bottle of aspirin.

- stored in the freezer among frozen items in a plastic sandwich bag.

- buried in your backyard or the soil of a potted plant, in a waterproof container.

Larger bills in fewer quantities take up less space when wanting to store your money in a compact manner. Whatever you choose, make sure to store your money in an unconventional yet practical manner.

Can you add to the suggestions above? Or where else ca you hide you cash other than a safe?

Now if I told you then you would know where to find it! I usually keep some inside of book that I know no one in their right mind would ever pick up to read.

How about in the pantry,
inside a coffee container,
with ground coffee surrounding it?

That might work well unless of course a robber were a coffee fanatic... Probably not too likely! It's not a bad option!

I learnt that one can spread it around under a carpet or rug and not make it suspicious. You can hide in an unexpected hideout in the kitchen where no one would detect too, like the back of the cupboard if there is a space 😁😁

Keeping your money "in and old sock" is a saying here. I have some 50 Euro bills in the hotelsafe where also my remaining silver is! (I think it is still there! )

Yeah, money in the sock drawer!
How about a false-bottom sock drawer?

A good friend of mine that has long passed was worried during the 2008 financial crisis. He buried two packages of $5,000 dollars each on his wooded estate. The next year his wife wanted him to dig the money back up, but he had forgotten where he buried it!😳
Telling someone where you have placed things………. Very important @silversaver888!😇

Could he have told his wife? After all that is why one is married! He was supposed to share these things with his wife. Or could he have written it somewhere? What a waste, @silvertop ! Hahaha !!!

It seems those you listed have been used a lot over time and so real thieves will look in those places. I always think you need to think up something else !

I do different things, but one thing to make sure of is to tell 1 trusted family member or closest person, so that if something happens to you, they don't throw out or sell what you have it hidden in.

I do think it is good to have some cash at home.

Hehehe...
I do things differently as well!!!
Most importantly, cash, if substantial, must be kept in the house at different locations, not all in one place.
I don't really trust the banks. As soon as savings reaches $2,000, it gets withdrawn, invested, or kept.
Enough said, hahaha!!!

I have a shady friend, that does not live near me.... ha ha.... who knows about how old people hid things. One time some elderly person had passed or went to a home and before estate sale, the family went through and threw out things in the medicine cabinet and the such and it was all piled at the curb. Since he knew that was sometimes a hidey place, he opened the bottles and in one there was some silver rings. Uh oh !

...and in the house, cash needs to be where it can be grabbed fast in case of fire.

I always keep money under my bed and it makes my money moist. I guess we don't need cash anymore, but not for a tragedy and hope that doesn't happen.

Let us hope that tragedy doesn't happen anywhere!!!
People may get stranded, and can't get to the back for days...
and bank failures... God forbid...
That's a good place to hide your cash!

My pillow, under the matrass, wall bracket.
Sometimes inside the bag I kept my clothes.

Good places! It will be very accessible, if and when you have to up and go immediately!
And keeping money in one of your bags is tried and true!!!

I’ve done a bunch of different things for customers over the years. Hidden closets. Raised panel walls with one panel held on with rare earth magnets. Hidden compartments on furniture like end tables, desks, coffee tables. Air ducts, floorboards, etc

Ms. Saver @silversaver888
You know my Hive Vote is not Worth Very Much..........
So Here is a Little Gremlin to make up for my Meager Votes........
Don't let this Little Gremlin anywhere near your Cash!!

Many believe the best thieves are humans. After all, it was humans who founded the Ebonhood, one of the most powerful thieves’ guilds in all of Praetoria. Others say it's the Venari, ratkin and mousekin with a knack for mischief. Perhaps an argument could be made for the light-fingered halflings or brownies, the furtive antoids, and various other races, as well.

But I have it on good authority that the best thieves are actually gremlins, a diminutive race of fey known for their mischievousness, cunning, and tendency to steal anything and everything that isn’t nailed down.

And if gremlins are the best thieves, then Vruz is the very best of them all.

The conditions here in Pakistan are very bad nowadays, so all the people here in Pakistan, even if they have some money at home, they keep it under lock and key. Because when a human comes into the house, we don't know what kind of person he is, so it is better to keep our money inside the lock.

I don't keep much cash in banks but I do hold some money and to keep it safe I keep it in my books as robbers will not read books when looting

One I just thought of; would really depend on your paper towel dispenser, but maybe in the hollow core of the paper towel roll if you have a dispenser that hangs the roll horizontally. Perhaps in an empty spice tin in your spice rack.

How about between your insole and your shoe? Maybe you have several pairs of shoes where that might work. Anyway, I am sure there are many clever ways to hide that cash.

Thanks for sharing sis; Love ya much!🤗💖🤗🌸🤗😘💖 !LADY

Yes! Very clever!!! I haven't used those two places yet! In one of my many purses, I keep some cash! I figure in case of fire, I grab the bag and then pick up the rest in places where I hide the cash!
Thanks for sharing sis 💖🤗
