A day late and a dollar short... In 1900 they weren't worried about other species, they were worried about human existence and conservation wasn't near the top of the to do list.
The nice thing is at half silver it was worn much less! The coins were definitely used although this one is a nice specimen. These kind of coins I keep more for numismatics than stacking!
