Hello dearest friends,

Unfortunately, yesterday I couldn't find the time to write a post, but today I somehow carved out half an hour to share what I saw yesterday. Due to work commitments, I was in Livorno, so I decided to take a stroll near the Medici Port, a place worth seeing if you visit Livorno. It has ancient origins as it was built by the Medici family, one of the most important and influential Florentine families in Europe. In these few photos I quickly took, as I only had time for a short lunch break, I shared the Old Fortress, the symbol of the city built in the 16th century based on the design by Antonio da Sangallo the Elder. Architecturally and functionally, it was truly innovative at the time, with an asymmetric shape and three bastions. Considering that at that time, classic castles were still being built, this was a later defensive evolution.
The first time I saw it, I was amazed. Unfortunately, I didn't have much time, but you can visit its interior as it is now part of Livorno's heritage. Especially for those who love defensive structures or architecture in general, it's quite interesting.

probably the best way to admire this Fortress is to go around it by boat

If I'm not mistaken, the entrance should cost €7, but I'm not sure, so below I'll leave you some contacts that you can use to plan your visit and find out when it's open to the public, as this can be a significant challenge.

Over the years, it has been partially renovated, and if I remember correctly from what a friend told me, there should be a museum inside explaining the evolution of this place.

There are many boats parked here which are then used in the summer by the people who live nearby but also by tourists

By the way, yesterday was a beautiful day, and it was warm enough for March. I almost felt like taking a swim in the sea. I hope you enjoyed the photos I shared. Thank you for always following me; it means a lot. I hope to have some time this weekend to share the things I've discovered in recent days.

Wishing you all a good day! See you soon.
