A stroll through the streets of Barga!
Hello dear friends,
I am pleased to share this post with you to recount the walk I took through the streets of Barga, a charming village located in the province of Lucca. I embarked on this journey with the desire to discover its hidden beauties, and from the very first steps, I was immediately captivated by this place, rich in history and tradition.
I must admit that the streets of Barga proved to be quite a challenge with their steep slopes, narrow alleys, and cobblestone paths. I had to pay attention to every step I took to avoid tripping. Moreover, when I arrived, it had recently rained, making the streets even more treacherous. However, this difficulty only enhanced the charm of this medieval village.
The beauty, from my point of view, of Tuscany is that within these villages, there are always hidden works of art. In fact, I have always considered this region to be highly attractive to artists from all over the world. Even here, I found some peculiarly decorated benches, art pieces donated by artists to the village.
As I walked, I felt my eyes fill with vibrant colors and breathtaking panoramas. The facades of the houses in these villages are always embellished with colorful flowers adorning the balconies and windows. The streets are bustling with characteristic shops and traditional taverns where one can savor local delicacies.
Crossing the main square of Barga, the heart of the town, I came across the majestic Cathedral of San Cristoforo with its light-colored stone facade. I decided to enter and admire the artworks that enrich the interior of the church, bearing witness to the rich and long religious history of this place.
Continuing my stroll, I reached the fortress of Barga, an ancient castle that overlooks the city. From here, there is a spectacular panoramic view. You can admire the gentle Tuscan hills stretching to the horizon, dotted with olive groves and vineyards, offering an authentic and evocative image of this place.
Exploring further, I discovered that Barga is famous for its musical tradition. During the summer, the village comes alive with concerts and festivals that attract visitors and musicians from all over the world. It is a beautiful thing to see how art and architecture blend harmoniously with the culture of the place.
I remember that before concluding my walk, I indulged in a delicious artisanal gelato, succumbing to the authentic flavors. Unfortunately, in my haste, I forgot to take a photo to share here, but I couldn't resist this artisanal tradition.
I can confidently say that Barga is a hidden gem in the province of Lucca, a place that has positively impressed me despite its challenging and winding streets. These are a small price to pay to immerse oneself in this timeless place and discover its history and culture.
I hope that this account and these photos have also sparked your interest. As always, I hope you have the opportunity to visit these places. In the meantime, it has been my pleasure to introduce you to them, and I thank you for reading my story. Until next time, see you soon!
