A village, recovered in the Tuscan countryside!

Hi friends, finally today I have some time to edit this post and I want to tell you about another beautiful village in Tuscany. Like others, I discovered it by chance, but also thanks to my friend Maria who lives permanently in those parts and who has practically toured all of Tuscany. It was a Sunday when she took me to discover this beautiful Borgo and now I will share some photos with you.

Today's Borgo is called Castelfalfi and is practically immersed in the Tuscan countryside, but is included in the metropolitan city of Florence. So it's not that far from beautiful Florence. Actually, I had already passed through here in mid-May, but I hadn't been able to stop. A beautiful thing that can be seen from afar is its roofs that emerge from the crowns of the cypresses. The interesting thing is that the Borgo has been completely renovated.

Surely below I will leave you some contacts to better understand the history of this village, maybe I will also give you some Wikipedia contacts. As I understand it, this Borgo was an ancient Longobard settlement, but unfortunately towards the 60s the Borgo had to face a phase of decline due to the movement of people for work reasons, causing depopulation until about 2007. At that time point, as I understood, the Borgo was bought by a tour operator who decided to enhance it by creating holiday homes. This is something that often happens in villages in Tuscany because it's not the first time I've seen something like this.

I did my usual tour of this Borgo and counted 48 apartments, not the 24 small farmhouses, but unfortunately some of the shops and workshops included in this Borgo are still closed and most likely this project has not yet started totally. Inside the Castle, which was inaccessible, there is a small resort and a restaurant. I noticed that there is still a lot of work to be done to complete this Borgo enhancement project. Despite this, I was able to appreciate the beauty of the surrounding architecture and landscapes, immersed in the Tuscan countryside and not too far from the city of Florence. I hope that in the future this Borgo can be completely revitalized and become a successful tourist destination.

So, as you can see from the photos, there are practically no inhabitants in this village and the few people I've met are people who work here or who are in any case completing works always linked to the topic of restructuring. I noticed that this hamlet was recently purchased by a tour operator with the aim of enhancing it and creating holiday homes. However, during my visit I was able to ascertain that the project has not yet fully started and many shops and workshops are still closed.

I wondered how it was possible that such an ancient village full of history was abandoned by most of its population. I discovered that in the 60s there was a movement of many people for work reasons, causing a depopulation of the village. Fortunately, the renovation project is giving new life to this place and I hope it can become a successful tourist destination in the future.

I was able to appreciate the beauty of the surrounding architecture and landscapes, immersed in the Tuscan countryside and not too far from the city of Florence. I took many photos to share the beauty of this village with you and I hope that in the future you can come and see it in person. Also, I was planning to know more about the history of this place and I searched Wikipedia for some information to better understand.
In general, my visit to this village made me reflect on the importance of enhancing the historical and cultural heritage of our country.

I would also like to express my opinion on these initiatives to enhance the villages of Tuscany. In my opinion, they are not exactly wrong, on the contrary they are a way to preserve and enhance these unique places with a strong historical and cultural value. Furthermore, they give the possibility, especially for people arriving from abroad, to enjoy this panorama and these very characteristic houses of Tuscany, giving them the possibility of integrating into the landscape.

However, I hope that these initiatives are affordable enough for everyone, so that they don't become a thing reserved only for rich people. It is important that these places can be appreciated and enjoyed by all, regardless of their economic means. In general, the enhancement of the villages must be done in a balanced way, preserving their authenticity and making them accessible to all.

For me, as usual, I just have to thank you for taking the time to read this post. I hope you liked my photos, even if they are not of great quality, and that you also enjoyed the discovery of this village. In general, I always try to offer here interesting and informative content about the places I visit, to share with you the beauty of the places I'm lucky enough to discover.

I am always happy to be able to share my experiences and to be able to let my readers discover new and interesting places. I hope this post has given you the opportunity to get to know this village a little better and that it has made you want to come and visit it in person. In any case, thank you again for taking the time to read this post and I wish you good discoveries for the future.

I loved the Tuscany area, I could say it was my favorite in all of Italy. I didn't visit this little town but I'm glad you shared your experience in case I ever go back that way. I think the same, they should encourage people to return to live in these places or make it touristy but accessible to everyone, as part of the history of the country.
In Spain (where I live) there are many medieval villages that today live quite a lot on local tourism.
