Hello dear friends,

A few days ago, due to work reasons, I was in Lazio, specifically in Caprarola, a municipality in the province of Viterbo, at an altitude of about 500 meters. In reality, I didn't have much time to linger in this place; I just had to meet a client and then head to another destination. However, while having breakfast at a bar, someone noticed that I was writing here on the blog and asked if I was interested in taking a guided tour in the afternoon inside the Farnese Palace, a beautiful architectural gem from the 1500s located right in this village.

Initially, I was a bit skeptical because I didn't know if this person was trying to flirt with me – I'm always a bit cautious at first. However, he explained that he, too, had studied art, and so we started our conversations.

After lunch, I set out to discover the Farnese Palace, a magnificent building designed by Jacopo Barozzi da Vignola, constructed between 1559 and 1575. I must say it was a delightful discovery. I had heard about this place and admired it from the outside, but taking a guided tour inside the palace truly captivates you with what you see.

The guide explained that originally, this palace was conceived as a fortress, but as often happened, it evolved into a simple residence. As I've mentioned in my previous posts, these places underwent significant modifications over the years, mainly because they were inhabited by different people.

This masterpiece is quite imposing, spanning over 6000 square meters. What struck me the most were the staircases connecting these beautiful floors, adorned with stunning frescoes.

As you can see, I've shared some photos I took during this guided tour. I must say, I'm always left speechless in front of these frescoes, true masterpieces. In the end, it was a beautiful visit that I will surely remember, and I was fortunate to have met this person with whom I'll definitely stay in touch to explore more in this area.

I almost forgot, if you're interested in discovering this place, the entrance fee to visit the Palace is €10, while young individuals pay only €2. It's practically open almost all the time, except on Mondays. From my point of view, it's definitely worth spending this money to visit this place.

Thank you for reading this post. I hope to see you in the next one, and in the meantime, I wish you all a wonderful day!
