CHIOGGIA, the seaside village

Hello dear friends

I don't know if I have already talked about this splendid village in this community, but lately I have been getting a little lost in creating so much content, but today I want to talk to you about Chioggia, a village that is located in the province of Venice, practically on the coast south of the Venetian lagoon, but recently it has been a little discovered by mass tourism, for several reasons, its port is used for docking for numerous cruises that used to dock in Venice, but then for a question of landscape and not to burden the city of Venice they moved to Chioggia, and so many tourists have discovered this small village, which is also called 'little Venice' because of its similarity to Venice, in fact this village was also built among canals and small streets with characteristic bridges.

I often visit this hamlet for work reasons because I have an important client whose head office is nearby, but in these photos I wanted to bring some important features of this hamlet. First of all, its economy is based mainly on fishing, and you can see this immediately as soon as you arrive in this place and perhaps as soon as you take a tour of its harbour because there are many boats that are ready to set sail at night in search of fish, by the way, here in Chioggia there is an important fish market, one of the most important in the whole of Italy, which I have never had the courage to visit precisely because I don't like to see dead fish so much, and I am very annoyed by the smell inside that place there.

As I was telling you, Chioggia is famous for its picturesque canals that can be explored by boat or on foot, or as many inhabitants of this beautiful Borgo do by bicycle, in fact the use of bicycles in these areas is very high, also because fortunately there are many bicycle paths that connect to this beautiful Borgo.

In fact, the historic centre of Chioggia is a very charming place with its narrow winding streets, historic palazzos, and small squares the church of San Domenico with its imposing Baroque façade is one of the most important monuments in the city But there are also other interesting churches that unfortunately, due to my limited time, I was unable to visit.

I have never even tasted Chioggia's cuisine, which is mainly focused on fish dishes thanks to the proximity of the sea and, as I mentioned, the city's fishing tradition, but unfortunately fish is not a dish that particularly attracts me.

However, what I can say is that Chioggia is a city full of charm, with a historical and cultural heritage and, as you have well understood, a strong identity linked to the sea and fishing. The first time I was here, I immediately fell in love with its beauty and timeless charm.

But another thing that particularly struck me about this tourist destination is that it is also an authentic and lively town with a strong local community that has maintained its traditions and its lifestyle over the years, as I said, even though in recent years it has been much taken by storm, for example by American tourism, it has nonetheless remained that small hamlet of yesteryear with its small restaurants that still prepare the delicacies of the local cuisine, perhaps even accompanied by a good glass of wine.

Thank you for reading this far into my story, I hope you have found it interesting and I hope I have made you realise how worthwhile it is to visit such a hamlet as it can enrich you not only from a cultural and artistic point of view but also from the point of view of the typical experience.

What a charming yet brilliant town. From the time I saw the bridge and the archtecture, I immediately knew it was Italy, thanks for sharing such a charming piece of Venice!
