Hello dear friends

Yesterday I didn't manage to share my post here in the community, so I'm sharing it now. Today, I want to talk to you about the Castle of the Magione in Poggibonsi, a place rich in history and charm that testifies to the presence and activities of the Knights Templar in Tuscany. I visited this place several months ago, driven by my curiosity, as the order of knights has always intrigued and fascinated me. Here in this part of Tuscany, you find a very mystical place full of mysteries.

The castle was built around 1100 and was intended to welcome pilgrims traveling to Rome or even to the Holy Land. This is because the Via Francigena, which pilgrims used, passes near this castle and has now become one of the most popular trails for outdoor enthusiasts not only in Italy but worldwide.

In this post, I've shared only what I saw externally at the castle because, as I understand, it is still owned by an order similar to that of the Templars, and therefore, it's not always open to the public.

This is a real shame because inside this castle, there is an interesting cycle of frescoes from the 14th century depicting all the grandmasters who led the order before its destruction. Nevertheless, even from the outside, you can see some symbols associated with the Templars, and I must say that the castle is well-maintained.

If you happen to pass by and have the opportunity to find it open, I think a visit inside this castle would be very interesting. They say there are still objects related to this mysterious order and many documents inside. However, as I mentioned, it is currently affiliated with the Order of Malta, so unfortunately, the day I went, it was not open at all.

I've also seen monuments dedicated to both the First and Second World Wars up close, something that is often found not only in the cities of Tuscany but in almost all cities in Italy.
