Santa Luce - Pisa - Tuscany

Hello dear friends,

today I want to share this post with you, but unfortunately, my memory is betraying me a bit. In fact, I don't remember if I had already talked to you about this place in the past. Anyway, I had already been here before, but since I went to explore the location that I had already shared with you in the previous post, I want to tell you about its municipality.

Indeed, these photos were taken in Salta Luce, a small municipality located in the province of Pisa in Tuscany. Perhaps some of you have already heard about this place because in recent years, it has become quite famous in Italy and even in Europe. This is mainly due to the abundance of lavender fields surrounding the village, reminiscent of the Provence region. However, in my opinion, we are quite far from that atmosphere.

Anyway, returning to the village, it's easy to stroll around, and the streets are wide enough even for cars. The only thing you might notice from the photos, which I honestly didn't like, is the fact that they have covered almost all the typical cobblestone pavement of medieval villages. I've shown it to you in other posts I've shared here, and they replaced it with asphalt, which, in my opinion, is an unsightly change. I'm not sure how they could have done that.

Nevertheless, I really love these tangled alleyways, and overall, I must say that the village is quite well-maintained. I noticed two quite charming churches, as usual, it's a real shame that they are closed, so I couldn't visit their interiors.

However, the summit of the village was right above the hill, and from there, I must say, you could see a beautiful panorama of the entire countryside. Like the village I talked to you about in the previous post, this one is also linked to the mythology of the Templars. However, I had expected to find some particular symbolism in the streets of this village, but I must say I didn't find anything interesting.

In this exploration, I practically only encountered one gentleman. It seems that, like the previous village, very few people permanently reside here, and there are also many second homes. Surely, during the summer, this village is much more lively.

I hope you enjoyed the photos I took. From a cultural and artistic perspective, there weren't many interesting things, apart from the two churches that probably had some treasures inside to admire. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read this post. See you next time!
