Sinar Utama: The Best Mie Yamin in Town

One of my favorite foods is noodles. Who doesn't like noodles? Noodles are my comfort food, I like many kinds of noodles. In this blog, I will share a story about one of my favorite noodles, Mie Yamin. Mie Yamin is a popular Indonesian noodle dish originating from Chinese cuisine. It consists of wheat noodles served in a flavorful broth, typically made from chicken stock, and seasoned with soy sauce, garlic and other spices. The dish is often garnished with various toppings such as sliced ​​chicken, shrimp, vegetables and crispy fried shallots.

Mie Yamin is known for its savory and umami flavors, with the noodles absorbing the rich broth and spices. It is commonly enjoyed as a comforting and filling meal, either as street food or in restaurants across Indonesia. The dish is often served with condiments such as chili sauce, lime wedges, and pickled vegetables to add an extra kick of flavor.

Mie Yamin is a versatile dish, and its ingredients and preparation can vary from region to region in Indonesia. In some places, it may be served dry, with the noodles and toppings tossed in a sauce instead of being served in a broth. Additionally, different areas may have their own unique twists and variations, showing the diverse culinary heritage of the country.

One of the famous Mie Yamin restaurants in Medan is Sinar Utama. This restaurant sells various types of processed noodles. My order this time is the yamin combo. It consists of one bowl of Yamin noodles and one milk coffee drink. One bowl of Yamin noodles consists of Yamin noodles with shredded chicken, boiled eggs, wonton crackers and boiled mustard greens.

This yamin noodle is given special spices and sauce from Sinar Utama. Then topped with shredded chicken that has been boiled and seasoned. The taste of this yamin noodle is spicy, sweet, savory, blends perfectly. Lots of chicken topping too. Then the eggs are boiled first then seasoned with stews and cooked until the spices are absorbed. For those who like spicy, pickled chilies are also provided on each table which can be added according to taste.

For the taste of the drink, like coffee with milk, in general, nothing special. Creamy, sweet, and the coffee is light, yes because they specialize in Yamin noodles so the coffee with milk is nothing special, but overall it's delicious.

As for the atmosphere, it is quite cozy and spacious, suitable for gathering with friends or family. The design is also minimalist and simple, dominated by white for the room and black for the tables and chairs. The room is available indoor and outdoor. For the outdoors, it is equipped with an umbrella awning to block the hot sun. I think it's better to sit outside in the afternoon or early morning while enjoying the breeze, because during the day it's quite hot. There are also had prayer room.

Mie Yamin here is one of the most delicious Yamin noodles I've ever eaten. With abundant toppings and umami taste. If you guys live in Medan, North Sumatra, you have to try eating Yamin noodles here.
