Hi Open Mic Community, feels good to be back here again and for this week (#131) I'd be doing something really different away from the norm. I'd be performing an original song called "Naija Is Blessed" in line with this week's theme "Orgullo Patrio" which means Patriotic Pride.

Naija is like a shortened form of Nigeria, often a slang used to refer to Nigeria and Nigerians, so by Naija is blessed...I mean Nigeria is blessed. I'm African and also a proud Nigerian, I love my country even though it's not so lovable currently but really We are all we've got. We've got to stand together to make it work.

The song basically talks about how Green our land is and how nations from far and near would come to Nigeria just to experience the beauty, cultural heritage,and bliss. Green signifies fertility which means Nigeria is really fertile and good enough for any and everyone to thrive. Naija is blessed is more like a prayer, because it doesn't seem so right now with the situation of things in the country. It doesn't look like things are working or even going to work but I'm a Nigerian who believes Nigeria would be great again and all those in diaspora would come back home and have no regrets because things would change for the better, and even those who are planning to escape just for a better life elsewhere wouldn't have to go anymore. In the past couple of weeks, I have a lot of friends even family who have migrated to other countries just to get a better life, Blame them? No I don't. Everyone wants to be successful, everyone wants to see their work's worth and be able to take care of themselves and family through the work they do, so I understand. But really the rate at which people leave the country on a daily is really alarming and scary.

I'm a patriot who believes in my country Nigeria and her people (Nigerians) and I know very soon we would be great but this can't be done by a group of people. We are all we have, no one else would make it work for us if we don't build it together regardless of tribe,religion. So please let's all come together to make this nation great.Naija is blessed is a really simple song,so please feel free to sing along with me. God bless Nigeria 🇳🇬

Pero realmente la tasa a la que la gente sale del país diariamente es realmente alarmante y aterradora.

Soy un patriota que cree en mi país Nigeria y su gente (nigerianos) y sé que muy pronto seríamos geniales, pero esto no lo puede hacer un grupo de personas. Somos todo lo que tenemos, nadie más lo haría funcionar para nosotros si no lo construimos juntos, independientemente de la tribu, la religión. Así que, por favor, unámonos para hacer que esta nación sea grande. Naija está bendecida es una canción realmente simple, así que siéntete libre de cantar conmigo. Dios bendiga a Nigeria 🇳🇬
