Battle Rules (DIAMOND LEAGUE, MODERN FORMAT):

  • Divine Shield
  • Even-Mana Monsters Only
  • 60 Mana

What would you do when you can almost use any card?

Except... they must have even mana cost... bummer

Quickly glancing through all my splinters, Death and Dragon got the biggest and baddest even monsters

This is going to be a battle of "who's got more big even monsters"! Almost, proper setup still help with the probability of winning nonetheless

Now the splinter is settled, let's get to it

Summoner: Quix The Devious

  • To gain access to the Dragon Splinter where I have most of my high mana cards
  • -1 Ranged Attack, on hindsight this is the right choice. It debuffed half of the opposing team!
  • -1 Speed, it is always good to have higher speed than the opponent

Position #1: Tank - Harklaw

20230103-b1.PNG

  • This is one of the best tanks, and it is from the chest Reward
  • Solid tank for 8 mana for good armor and health
  • Shield reduces physical damage received by 1
  • Demoralize reduces physical attack of enemies by 1
  • Immunity protects against negative status effects

Position #2: Dark Ha'on

20230103-b2.PNG

  • This is another one of my favorite Taunt tanks
  • This monster is very versatile, can be used in first position or back lane
  • Flying reduces the chance of getting hit by non-flying physical attackers (also excellent for the Earth Quake Battle Rule)
  • Void with Magic Reflect lowers magical damage while returning damage back to the magic attackers
  • Scavenger restores health as monsters get eliminated
  • The attack of 4 is very respectable with a hefty health pool and a bit of armor
  • Even though it cannot attack in position #2 (without Reach ability), the purpose is to split the damage with the Main Tank and to counter any potential magical damage away from Harklaw

Position #3: Chaos Dragon

20230103-b3.PNG

  • Chaos Dragon is very useful as both an attacker and support (and as the third tank with Flying ability)
  • Blast does additional damages to the adjacent monsters, and the Blast damage cancels out Divine Shield
  • Scattershot can be good as it ignores Taunt, with any luck you could be taking out healers and other squishy damage dealers quickly
  • Blind compliments Dark Ha'on's Taunt by giving it more survivability against melee and ranged attacks

Position #4: Runi - the one of a kind

20230103-b4.PNG

  • The one of a kind design will confuse the opponent and increase the win rate by 0.0000001%
  • Opportunity with True Strike ensure the lowest health enemies are taken out quickly without miss
  • Refection Shield ignores Thorns, and protects against Blast
  • Rebirth resurrects after death, with Divine Shield rule set, it is like 2 more lives!

Position #5: Zyvax Vuul

20230103-b5.PNG

  • This card is often overlooked. Recharge is not always the easiest ability to use, but when done properly it could do massive damage - up to 9 damages every other turn, this could one shot most monsters after the armor is taken out
  • Flying helps it evade physical attacks and to evade-tank Sneak attacks if placed at the very back
  • Close Range allows it to continue to attack as the front tank if the the battle gets to the last wire
  • Deathblow does double the damage if the target is the last monster, especially useful against monsters with Last Stand ability

Position #6: Doctor Blight (again and again 😅)

20221231-b6.PNG

  • This is the card that I always try use when possible
  • With 4 mana left over, this is the most obvious choice, the key abilities I am after for this battle are Affliction and Poison
  • Affliction makes the target unhealable
  • Poison does 2 damages per round once applied
  • With Camouflage, it sits hidden in the very back damaging and poisoning the opponent without getting targeted
  • While accumulating health from the Scavenger ability, until the last doctor standing, this is the insurance policy to outlast the opponent in a more evenly matched battle
  • Weaken reduces the health of all opponent by 1 (This is not as effective as Legendary monsters typically have massive health pools)

Conclusion:

20230103-b7.PNG

  • Solid win
  • Dark Ha'on is the champion, reflected back enemy Blast and continued to get rejuvenated by the Scavenger ability
  • I had some mana left over unspent, time to go shopping for more high mana cards 💸💸

Great battle, I see you often place your Taunt card in the second spot which tends to be working quite well for you.

Thanks. I ran out of big even mana cards. If I had 2 more good monsters I may have set it up a bit differently.
