Investing in LEO... again!

avatar

Can anybody remember when the tribes were formed? First, it was PAL and we all got free tokens dependant on our STEEM stake.

image.png

It was all so exciting, as the second airdrop was LEO. Many of the PAL receivers had dumped them and received no LEO as the rules were, ‘you get as much LEO as you have staked PAL’.

I had staked all mine and received around 2400 LEO. Times were good for the believers and then it exploded.

chops.JPG

...'chops anyone? I can sell you some.... dead cheap'...

Everyone started creating coins, and it seemed like there was a token for just about everything.

Only a handful will survive’, the naysayers were telling us all. They were right, and the STEEM / HIVE divorce of March 2020 did not do the tribe coins any favours.

The good ones moved to hive.engine leaving the crap to fester on steem.engine. I lost hope and sold most of mine, even the ones that made the journey to HIVE.

Of the ones I sold, LEO was my biggest regret. What has happened to LEO is the product of hard work and dedication. Can any of the others follow in the footsteps of LEO?

image.png

...'LEO is no cheap-arse token, it's move valuable than HIVE'...

To me, LEO was getting out of hand. I wasn’t prepared to buy back in after dumping those once useless looking tokens for peanuts.

Then the DEFI hack arrived and all I can say is I feel for the holders and investors. I have been scammed so I know how it feels.

Nevertheless, I saw my opportunity and noticed LEO was dipping. Was LEO going to survive and pull out, or become another MARLIANS?

Marlians.JPG

…’yeah, I bought a load of MARLIANS, no more to be said about that’…

Yesterday I had around 12 LEO staked and still, it was paying me dividends. I love passive income I mean who doesn't love to be paid while you sleep?

Today I bit the bullet and bought and staked around $130 of LEO. This brings my stake to just short of 1000. It's looking healthy again.

Trades.JPG

I’m generally not one to follow the herd after losing so much in the past, but I have a feeling about this token.

delegate.JPG

More than this, I will delegate 1000 HIVE to leo.voter and publish that article that several UK HIVER’s have been wanting shortly.

…’How to buy and sell HIVE in the UK’…

It's not all one-way traffic, and believe it or not, these Mickey-Mouse tokens do have some value.

Yes, you can magically transform HIVE into your UK bank account and buy a pizza. In years to come you can tell your grandkids you did what the bloke did before with BitCoin... you know... the pizza story.

Good move I think.

Although you'd need to have quite a minimal amount of Hive to have to sell it ALL to buy a pizza!

Then again, Dominos are rather pricey if you can't get a deal.

With the way things are going, ur gonna need quite a bit for that 12' double-cheese with extra cheese in the crust hehe...

I felt like I was missing out on LEO, I had to get some. Aren't multiple income streams great?

The way things are going I'll be lucky if I can get a mid week medium lunch deal for one.

You should be OK though.

With my entire Hive stake that is.

But LEO, by 2022 I'll probably be able to get a large dominos for 0.1 LEO

Just love multiple income streams.

Leo pays me on a par with Hive now!

I have managed to earn a nice amount of LEO, but you know I am not much of an investor. It is my biggest Hive Engine holding by far. I tend to treat the tokens as a bonus. It's all an interesting experiment in what is possible. Shame the 'wrapped' thing got messed up, but I didn't really get that. I don't envy the developers of these things as the slightest slip-up can be a disaster. Maybe we will actually get SMTs one day, but it will need some really smart developers and lots of testing.

As I said to you, I'm not quite sure how the wLEO thing worked either. Happy to stick with the basic token for now and accumulate some more. If SMT's arrive, this one is going to be dominant, but how it will migrate.. we don't know yet.

a leap of faith

I think you hit the nail on the head, that's what it was 18 months ago.. is it that long since the tribes started?

In the other side, I hope so much for these tokens after my rewards on Hive not really good :(

I think I will stake in the form of LEO later much than Hive :(

HIVE is still the base token for all of these, I'm happy to stash it.

Leo did something smart, airdropping to Only does that held the token from PAL. I knew leo was gonna thrive about 5 months ago when I decided to buy In it was only a matter of time. I'm happy happy for you

Thanks for sharing. I have seen posts about LEO but never looked into it. What is the use case for it?

Very interesting to see that you are investing in this. I have been a bit hesitant because my posts are so all over the place. If the Hive-Engine price had dropped down to where the wrapped price was I would have bought a ton. It didn't drop that much and I am still working on getting my account powered up. I will probably stake my tokens again. I unstaked them thinking I might need to dump them if the price got up to $.50 or $1 per token.

I saw that all yours were liquid. I would rather take the chance and stake them, but not go in too deep. I will write some more financial articles soon, may as well if I am investing in LEO.

I ended up staking about half of it back up.

Nicely done, I've been slowly chipping away at the Hive Engine tokens and like you, like the passive earning side of things! I'm consolidating on LEO, PAL, NEOX and BRO at the moment whilst delegating to leo.voter, it all adds up!

About buying HIVE from the UK - is there a different route other than Coinbase --> An Exchange using HIVE --> Withdraw to HIVE account?

I can use my Wirex card by buying Litecoin on that with £ to convert to HIVE through Blocktrades.

I used to use this method but Wirex take a cut. It was only 1%, but I prefer free. Will explain in the forthcoming article.

Ah Wirex, that card never worked for me for some reason despite me going back and forth with customer services. Seems like there's hefty fees all around with this approach as well, hopefully we'll see this new baller approach that @slobberchops uses in his next post 😃

It never linked to some banks, that was the problem with it. Now they want KYC and I lost interest.

There's a quicker way. Cutting out the complexity is always best, though there will always be some (for now), if you want crypto.

Are you buying back into PAL and NEOX? I have some of both and CCC. They are all moving up a little.

Interesting - I have a weekly DCA that goes to Coinbase and just convert to BTC via coinbase pro, which has its own fees, then send this to an exchange (fees) to convert to HIVE (fees) and withdraw from there to HIVE (fees). So probably lose a fiver each time - if there's a shorter route then I'm all for it but I know blocktrades are more expensive than doing it that convoluted way I just mentioned!

Yeah I'm buying back to PAL and NEOX with the dlease payments and earning tokens/staking them when I get them. I have 5k CCC (I guess that's creative coin?) although I'm not sure I'm following the right account as the last update I have from them on their page is April?

Yes CCC is creative coin, not much happening but there's signs of movement. I have around 8.5k of these.

It's no secret about the methods I use, I just find them quick and easy.. I think there are a few newbies who don't know how to buy or sell.

Ah, the fond memories of selling every token I got. I don't regret it. There was always a chance of one of them mooning. Have a bit of Leo now just in case :O)

I don't regret it.

I do, it made me sick.. I knew what I had paid for them. JAHM was slow moving across to hive.engine and look what happened. Almost 6000 tokens and 48c for the lot. I ain't selling!

Hehe, I think though if you got in quick and sold right at the very start you made quite a bit out of it. I remember I made quite a stash out of the porn tokens.

No regrets! Thats what keeps you sane in crypto!

I made a nice loss on dporn, I think @goblinknackers still has a stash.., I talked him into buying them and feel bad. Still, the tokens all seem to be rising.. except JAHM.. Damn..

I think it is the LEO effect. I reckon the next one with a chance of achieving anything will be STEM, it is very cheap right now nad worth a punt I reckon.

Hehe, bloody dporn, they had some right monsters on that site

Doubt it. It will just have been another money grab like everything else. Nothing makes you cynical like crypto makes you cynical :0D

I love passive income and have lost faith in the stock market. My stockbroker went bust, into liquidation.. freezing my assets for 15 months. I have just got them back and look whats happened over that time period. I could have bought crypto and things would have been a lot brighter. Still we need to diversify to spread the risk.
