Splinterlands Strategies: Being the Bully

image.png

RedLine.png

I don’t play a whole lot of Splinterlands today, the exception being Brawls with the @dismayedworld account where you must use your skill to win and not depend on a Battle Helper to defeat your opponent... 'Yes OK...'

That is the theory, though since the banning took place I have yet to see my win percentage increase at all. If anything it’s gotten a little worse and I haven’t used those ‘helpers’ in months.

image.png
...'that's because it hasn't changed, at least not at my level of play'...

Whereas the Battle Helper developed by @sylar (XBOT) has been partially disabled for Modern this is just in the Champions league. I do know there are others and regardless of TOS changes, human greed will not prevent these other 'helpers' from continuing and using subterfuge to achieve their wins.

I have a Brawl starting shortly and my guild leader has assigned me to an 'All Cards' fray. If I get one win I will be doing well, being Teir 4 Brawls.

It's tough at this level and the account I use doesn't have the likes of 'Yodin Zaku', 'Mylor Crowling', 'Scarred Llama Mage', or 'Bytanzine Kitty' to give me the edge.

image.png
...'...want to win? then buy these, some are a lot more useful than others. The price is a giveaway...'

I am not complaining as at higher levels, you need these cards to compete. Mine are all rented out on another account and give me my lion's share of DEC income, besides the excellent SPS rental system, though you need to wait out the lowballers at times.

Splinterlands, even at its current low is still an expensive endeavor to partake in if you want to see even a few dollars a day in income. Maybe that's the problem, and everyone sees it as an income generator rather than a game.

image.png
...'...Immortalis is going to do well for you against Alric, it goes without saying...'

It's quite strategic if you peer through the dollar bills and look at the mechanics. I am simply out of practice, and with all the new cards and rule sets, you need a quick mind to figure out that winning team.

I was never a fast thinker. Give me a strategy board and some time and then you will see results.

Several days ago, I sold some shares. Funnily enough, they were Banking shares, a constitution I was ambivalent about at the time of buying, but now downright detest.

They were giving me dividends at 5% or so, but overall I had made a loss since the purchase. HBD gives me a 20% return, that’s four times as much.

image.png
...'If want $500 for my 1700 HIVE and am in no hurry. It will fill soon enough once BTC starts moving again'...

The money came into HIVE several days ago, some went to Splinterlands and I bought some of those 'Bully' cards at Level 1. $500 went into a buy order for HBD (which has not been filled yet), and the rest got powered up.

The return of the $500 of HBD exceeds the dividends I was making from the Banking shares, fuck them…, I am not interested in cyclical stocks anymore and especially the banks that make crypto conduits tough to maintain.

image.png
...XBOT tokens, they ain't cheap'...

This brings me to the subject matter of this post. I had an account filled with some decent Bronze cards and was using a trial XBOT token which had just expired. The account was being played in Wild (where it’s now 100% BOTS) and was doing well.

How about adding 'Yodin Zaku', 'Mylor Crowling', 'Scarred Llama Mage', and 'Bytanzine Kitty' to the roster, as well as an XBOTLITE token?

I have always wanted a set of these 'power cards' at the base level, so bought them and added ‘Mimosa Nightshare’ and ‘Chanseus the Great’ to make it almost complete. The ‘Lir Deepswimmers’ have gone up a lot lately, so she got ditched.

image.png
...'All these new people joining the guild within minutes of each other? My spidey senses are tingling and there's something not quite right'...

Next, I joined a guild run by a real-time local friend of mine by the name of @snarrg. He's single-handedly built it contributing all the funds so far and I figured it might be fun to help him out a little.

He tells me people join it and then do nothing besides leech off the minute Brawls rewards. It is Tier one so those will be small. He's made me an Officer so I will be watching the freeloaders with interest and doing some kicking if they are not at least trying to win, or worse abstaining from play if assigned a fray.

I joined for the fun, not to maximize my SPS earnings from those power cards. After being bullied in my other larger guild I figured it might be fun to have some payback.

...'it's good to be a bully sometimes 😃 - @revisesociology '...

The first Brawl starts in eight hours and Yodin is itching to get out of the doors. Now I know how @revisesociology feels bullying all those newbies with barely any cards when he writes those posts of his.

It's bad being a bully but look at it this way. At Tier One, you are unlikely to get another opponent with these types of cards. I do need some kind of rage outlet for my frequent Splinterlands defeats!

Playing some of the bronze level games can be good fun, especially when you turn over a deck with one of those sacred cards! Although it is not happening too often. Lol

I'm about to find out what it's like. The deck is fully kitted out, and should do OK. I'm not a bad player but am not exceptional either. It's those other peeps who joined the guild just before the Brawl that concern me. An ulterior motive?

What's a sacred card?

I just meant those expensive cards you mentioned like Zaku, Kitty or Lama.. I would say also beating someone playing Quora is also a good feeling.

Maybe those in the guild are guild SPS farmers? I can't imagine that would be fun! Lol

Do you mean the Llama, more precisely the Legendary Earth Summoner Scarred Llama Mage whose real name is "Korina", instead of Lama? 🤔🤓

I still haven't discovered a way to defeat the Scarred Llama Mage and Kron the Undying combo on the Bronze League. 🤯😅

Did you try out some different combos if it is possible? It may only be possible with certain rulesets I imagine.

Fighting Kron the Undying on a #Splinterlands Battle with the Healed Out Ability will give you a fighting chance, but it doesn't mean that you could easily win. 😅

Yes, as llama will get rid of any affliction you make. Possibly with high mana and opportunity ruleset too.

(Edited)

With at least 16 Mana as Battle Cap and the Healed Out Rule, you can use any 3-Mana (or 2-Mana) Earth/Dragon Summoner and use Unicorn Mustang together with Mushroom Seer and and easily defeat Kron the Undying, even if the opponent pairs it with Scarred Llama Mage. 🤓

You have to anticipate when the opponent will use that combo though. 😅

Fantastic work! I knew you would know..

However, I think that the opponent will avoid using the Scarred Llama Mage and Kron the Undying combo on #Splinterlands Battles with the Healed Out Rule. 😅

You can beat a Zaku at Bronze level? In times gone by that was the card I used to get from nothing up to Gold with ease. He's a tough one to beat, even more so then.. and before Reflection Shield came upon us.

He is probably the most difficult, but I think with a water deck and a Runi with reflection shield could be done.

I think you have the nail on the head when you say that maybe too many people consider the game an income stream and not a game!

Since the game went nuts in September 2021, it's been a double-edged sword. The popularity brought in masses of farmers as well as players and investors.

Now we are back to the days before that happened in terms of players, but with BOTS and BH's ruling. The former were present before but it was hush-hush then and very underground. I preferred the old days when it was 5 wins for your daily quest. More simple then.

I think the money that happened in 2021 made people realize that there was mad money in the game and this somehow took away that zest to just do battle.
The zaku at level 2 in that game, surely the opponent never survived that onslaught.

Using Qid Duff, the opponent never had a chance, who uses that summoner anyway?!

The summoner was way too inferior to the Zaku. The battle was lost before it began.

That's cool that you were able to pump some more outside money into your account. I'd love to do that, but I just don't have the funds available right now. Maybe next bear I will be in a better position. So are you leasing out SPS as well as your cards?

It was a matter of moving money from a poor investment to a better, albeit riskier one, and get a little fun out of it, at the same time. If you have spare SPS, then rent it, I get decent chunks of DEC for doing this.

I don't really have spare SPS, it's all tied to my account to boost my level.

Nice one!

Hahaha. Thats good fun though. We all need an outlet at times. In a sense I do that too in some rpg games. Being level 99 then going back to the first map/dungeon just to kill everything in 1 hit.

The best cards you can invest in for Modern are summoners. I made the mistake of not grabbing them up when I still had some liquid income to blow on this game. I still make due at the silver level, but would love to play in some higher leagues with more creature abilities unlocked.

Perhaps one day.
