HAVE I LOST HIM? (Short Story - Fiction)

‘Don’t go! Don’t leave me! Please!’, Jane cried out as she held the arm of the man she loved—John—to keep him from leaving the apartment they had shared together for the past three years.

‘Jane! Let go of my arm’, John said.

‘I will, but please don’t go. Let us talk about this’, Jane said, letting go of his arm.

‘I have been talking for a long time, Jane. I love you so much, but you are suffocating me. You have been the air that I breathed for a long time. You always assume things about me without asking me first. You never gave me the benefit of doubt and believed what others said about me instead of trusting me and believing in me’, he said bitterly.

Jane looked at him tearfully. ‘I love you, John. I love you so much. I can’t be without you. Breathing is easier with you around. My whole world is brighter with you in it. I will change. I promise to begin to make conscious efforts to be better for you and for us’.

‘I think we need time apart. I have to be away from you to figure out if I still want to be with you’, he told her.

‘How long will it take, John?’, Jane asked as she saw the grim look on his face. He never changes his decision once he has that look on his face.

‘I don’t know Jane. I am broken that it had to come to this. I didn’t ever want to leave you. But my trust in you has been broken so much, and I was unaware of it. I am not sure if I want to keep trusting you with my heart’.

‘I am sorry, John. I will wait for you, no matter how long it takes. You are the only one for me. You have always been the only one. You know that, right?’

‘I know. Goodnight, Jane’.

‘Goodnight, John’, she said as she watched John shut the door behind him as he left. She let out a gush of air that she didn’t know she was holding. She sank to her knees, falling to the floor. She shuddered at the realisation of being alone in their apartment and let out a loud cry. She cried so much that she was at a loss for air. ‘Have I lost him?'. It was all she could think about. ‘The air that I breathe—have I lost him?’.

Jane shouldnt worry, I the avatar. the Last Air bender will give her enough breathing space that she wont worry about john again.

hehe. I love how you used the word air to describe the love between them, I can tell she loves him and he loves her but time away may help them clear their mind and rekindle their love once more. It is a beautiful write up

This air you flight now was from #dreemport because i come and go like a breeze

When you trust someone and they keep playing with your heart, it hurts so I won't blame John for the action he took. Staying away from each other for some time might help. During that time, Jane will be able to learn from her mistakes and make significant changes.

I do hope they get back together. They both are each other's air so, they need one another to survive.

It's unfortunate that they were both much into each other and yet things seems to break apart. That's life and love, sometimes it hurts

It's crazy how someone can be our whole world and when they threaten to leave, the emotions are so overwhelming that breathing becomes a conscious effort and a struggle! This was an interesting take on the 'Air' element!! Thank you for taking part in dreem-wotw !LUV !PIZZA
