Today I want to share a very special memory from my youth and talk about a live concert that completely blew my mind back in the day. Let’s dive right in
Back in the year 2000, when I was just a young guy full of curiosity and eager to listen to something different, the world of rock and heavy music caught my attention. On the radio and among my friends, people listened to various bands, but it wasn't until 2002 that I came across a band that blew my mind and completely changed my perspective: Slipknot.

At that time, those nine guys from Io were on everyone's lips. Seeing that band with their grotesque masks, jumpsuits, and raw aggression on stage was shocking to anyone. Back then, that kind of music moved a massive amount of fans, and honestly, it still does today because the passion people have for this band is real. For a young guy back then, hearing that chaos of drums, distorted guitars, and screaming was a great escape.

Right in that same year, 2002, the band released a live performance that became a gem for everyone who loved the genre: the famous DVD "Disasterpieces", recorded at a massive arena in London during their Iowa tour.
That concert was pure fire from start to finish. Watching those nine wild guys giving it their all on stage, sweating buckets, and putting on an incredible visual show kept you glued to the screen. I still remember the scene where the percussionist, known as "Clown," played drums that were literally oil drums and beer kegs. On top of that, the platform went up, rotated, and the guy was playing upside down in mid-air! The title of the DVD fits perfectly—it's a cross between total chaos and a masterpiece because of how tight they sounded amidst all that madness.

My Point of View and What It Meant to Me / Mi punto de vista y lo que significó para Mí
Speaking candidly from my personal experience as a listener, that Disasterpieces show wasn't just another concert; for me and thousands of young people, it was a pure discharge of energy. Back then, you were full of emotions and looking for something to relate to. Listening to tracks like People = Shit or Heretic Anthem felt like releasing all the week's stress in one go. It wasn't just making noise for the sake of it; it was about the raw power behind every lyric and drumbeat. You could tell right away they weren't just posing for commercial success, but a group of wildly talented musicians who knew how to get thousands of people jumping all at once.
Now, as the years have passed, things have changed quite a bit. Today, I consider myself much more open-minded musically; I listen to a bit of everything, enjoying modern genres, dance music, folklore, and whatever is playing out on the streets. But credit where credit is due: the mark Slipknot left on my youth in the early 2000s was huge. Those years taught me to appreciate the power and dedication of artists on stage—something very few bands have managed to replicate with that same level of madness.
