Original character creation, A new Healer and a Holomon for Holozing!

How's everyone doing? I hope you guys are having a nice weekend. As for me I decided to paint something different this time.

I have been making fanrts of the official holozing characters for a while now. The team mentioned in their discord servers that there is a new poison (bug) type creature they are working on which will be revealed soon. In the mean time I decided to make a Poison/Ghost type hybrid Holo healer and Holomon in my style while we wait for the reveal. The colour pallete I chose here is violet and it's nearby colours which artists use to paint poison and poison type characters. As for the logo I checked out some references and I saw that it's bones and skull as usual so I made my own logo for this one because the other one is way too common. I made additional changes to his suits as well to make it look more cool.

I obviously didn't want to draw him alone but we also don't have a poison based creature yet so I made my own hehe. I named him 'Boo' because he is a hybrid ghost/poison type with the power to poison and manipulate the mind of the opponents. I had to make it a hybrid because I'm a huge Pokemon fan and I love ghost types so Hybrid was the way to go haha. His floating hands are inspired from the Pokemon Haunter because it fits the character's power because Boo haunts and poisons the mind of his opponents. He is surrounded by dark poisonous energy which will corrupt any in contact so close combat is not a option when it comes to fighting Boo.

As for the healer, I made his head accessory as a poisonous thorn headband to fit the character type. His suit colours are also darker compared to other healers we met so far. With all that in mind I painted them and this is how it came out. I hope you guys like it :)

The Process

• Made a rough sketch using this reference from Pinterest

• Clean lineart is made from it using penfade brush.

• Layed down the base colours

• Added highlights on top of eyes and started working on the white areas of the eyes.

• Completed painting the eyes and started painting the hair. Added and highlights and shadows on his hair based on the light source. The hair colour is made that way for continuity because other holo healers have similar style.

• Rendered the hair at the point

• Corrected the hair colour a bit to suit the overall colour palette. Started working on his skin and added shadows according to the source of light. Also started painting his coat's collar areas and blue top.

• Didn't like the light violet on his coat so I added more saturation on it and shaded it. Also started working on his pinkish red strip on his blue top.

• Changed the colour of the coat again to a more reddish pink hue and added a second layer of shadow colours and blended in areas where it was necessary using blur tool.

• The center stripe was incomplete so I worked on a bit more. I wanted more highlights on it so I added them.

• Once I was done with that I added a shadow on it because of the coat by painting on a multiply layer on top of it. Also added some highlights on his blue top as well.

• Painted the hair band at this point. Added sparkles around it to make it look more friendly.

• At this point I started painting our new Holomon.

• Shaded Boo with respect to the source of light.

• Initially there was no plan to add that dark aura around him because I was using it to get more focus while painting him but later on I decided to keep it and erased the edges using particle airbrush to get the texture. After that I added violet shocks around it to make it look more mysterious.

• Started working on the background at this point. Decided to use the base colour as dark blue because of the character's colour palette.

Result

• Finished the painting by adding more glowing background elements. Fixed some mistakes here and there and it was done :)
