La Central Shopping Mall | A commercial giant hand in hand with the planet in Medellín
Greetings friends of Hive and the Architecture+Design community, I hope you are very well, I come to show you another place built under ecological principles for commerce and recreation in Medellin, is the Centro Comercial La Central a 6 level building located in Barrio Vergel, Buenos Aires or Comuna 9 which is a very popular sector of this city.
Saludos amigos de Hive y de la comunidad Architecture+Design deseo que estén muy bien, vengo para mostrarles otro lugar construido bajo principios ecológicos para el comercio y la recreación en Medellín, es el Centro Comercial La Central una construcción de 6 niveles ubicado en el Barrio Vergel, Buenos Aires o Comuna 9 que es un sector bastante popular de esta ciudad.
La Central is a green area inside and out but before we go inside I will first show you the outside of the building which is surrounded by greenery with gardens that can be seen everywhere.
La Central es una zona verde por dentro y por fuera pero antes de entrar primero les voy mostrar el exterior del edificio que está rodeado de vegetación con jardines que se pueden ver en todas partes.
Let's go into La Central Shopping Center and see that it is also an internal green area, well you see plants in other shopping centers but in La Central there are many gardens on each level and the roof is a source of natural energy, which is very successful in a building of this size that by logic consumes a lot of energy. Let's go inside and I will show you this impressive place in parts.
Entremos al Centro Comercial La Central y veamos que también es un área verde interna, bueno se ven plantas en otros centros comerciales pero en La Central hay muchos jardines en cada nivel y el techo es una fuente de energía natural, lo que es muy acertado en un edificio de estas dimensiones que por lógica consume mucha energía. Entremos y les voy mostrando por partes este impresionante lugar.
If you want a plant you can also buy it in that nursery I see from the second floor. Let's go down the escalators for some closer pictures.
Si quieres una planta también la puedes comprar en aquel vivero que veo desde el segundo piso. Vamos a bajar por las escaleras automáticas para unas fotos más de cerca.
There are six green levels as I call it and you can see the green color on the floors and in a green LED light that borders the division between each level. It's like a sign indicating how green this building is, it's impossible not to notice, with so many natural gardens inside.
Hay seis niveles verdes como lo llamo yo y puedes ver el color verde en los pisos y en una luz LED verde que bordea la división entre cada nivel. Es como una señal que indica lo ecológica que es esta construcción, es imposible no notarlo, con tantos jardines naturales internos.
A curious fact is that the gardens are kept alive because they receive natural light coming through the roof and an irrigation system thanks to the use of recycled rainwater that is also used for cleaning. That impresses me, it is a great idea of utilization in a very modern and new shopping center. Yes, it is a very young building because it is working since 2018 and the truth is fascinating to find so many constructions like this one that help to save the planet here in Medellin, the City of the Eternal First.
Un dato curioso es que los jardines se mantienen vivos porque reciben la luz natural que entra por el techo y por un sistema de riego gracias al uso del agua de lluvia reciclada que es aprovechada también para trabajos de aseo. Eso me impresiona, es una gran idea de aprovechamiento en un centro comercial muy moderno y nuevo. Si, es un edificio muy joven porque está funcionando desde el año 2018 y la verdad es fascinante encontrar tantas construcciones como ésta que ayudan a salvar el planeta aquí en Medellín, la Ciudad de la Eterna Primerava.
If you think this place is a work of art because of the interior design, well the roof is a masterpiece that gives love to the planet with solar energy panels, large natural light inputs and the prominent use of LED lights among a design that looks like I'm in a large theater.
Si crees que este lugar es una obra de arte por el diseño interior, bueno el techo es una obra maestra que regala amor al planeta con páneles de energía solar, grandes entradas de luz natural y el uso destacado de luces LED entre un diseño que parece que estoy en un gran teatro.
Speaking of feeling like I'm in a theater, as you can see there's a stage and people waiting for the La Central del Baile Show to start, which takes place at the mall several times a year and @amjdancer has had a few shows here.
Hablando de sentirme en un teatro, como pueden ver hay una tarima y gente esperando que empiece el Show La Central del Baile que se hace en el centro comercial varias veces en el año y @amjdancer ha tenido aquí algunas presentaciones.
Of course, there are the recreational areas in the middle of the aisles such as the inevitable food court, children's playgrounds, table games areas and you can see adults with children as if they were having a day of camping outdoors in a modern shopping mall.
Claro que están las áreas para la recreación en medio de los pasillos como la infaltable zona de comida, juegos infantiles, áreas para juegos de mesas y pueden ver adultos con niños como si estuvieran haciendo un dia de campamento al aire libre dentro de un moderno centro comercial.
The top level is where the extreme fun is with video arcades and even a mechanical amusement park. I couldn't believe it.
El último nivel es donde está la diversión extrema con salas de videos y hasta un parque de atracciones mecanicas. No lo podía creer.
Large and heavy mechanical attractions are on the top floor so this mall must have a very good foundation.
Grandes y pesadas atracciones mecánicas están en el último piso por eso este centro comercial debe tener muy buenos cimientos.
La Central Shopping Center has an impressive escalator system. That's the way it should be in a building that has a lot of living spaces.
El Centro Comercial La Central tiene una sistema de escaleras automaticas impresionante. Asi debe que ser en un edificio que tiene muchos espacios para estar.
My younger brother went ahead, he's the one in blue flannel.
Mi hermano menor se adelantó, es el que va de franela azul.
If you prefer to use elevators, this is also an option on all floors of La Central.
Si prefieres usar ascensores, también es una opción que está en todos los pisos de La Central.
The seating is something I like to look at because for me the designs and materials of the chairs should be decorative but also functional, comfortable, safe and resistant especially in a public place and the ones in La Central Shopping Center have a modern and aesthetically well defined design with the combination of metal and resistant wood.
Los asientos de los lugares es algo que me gusta mirar porque para mí los diseños y los materiales de las sillas deben ser decorativas pero también funcionales, comodos, seguros y resistentes especialmente en un lugar público y las del Centro Comercial La Central tienen un diseño moderno y estéticamente bien definido con la combinación de metal y madera resistente.
Finally I show you a part of the parking lot that is in five basements and you will only see one of the entrances. Just imagine how many cars you can park, well there is talk of two thousand or close to that amount.
Por último les muestro una parte del parqueadero que está en cinco sótanos y solo verán una de las entradas. Sólo imaginen cuantos autos pueden parquear bueno se habla de dos mil o cerca a esa cantidad.

This building is like other malls, but there is one thing that makes this building special, namely the presence of a natural light source whose model is very aesthetic and I think it is ordinary LED lights @sorprendente

La tienda de plantas es bien bonita, tiene mucho verde pero igual flores de lindos colores a la vez. Me gusta que es un comercio bien iluminado, tanto por la luz natural como por la cantidad de luminarias.

Wow! the mall is beautiful and has different spaces for family fun; it made me remember when my son was little and I took him to the ball pool in a mall in the city where I live, he liked to play with the balls and getting him out of the pool was a challenge heh, heh.
The plant area is my favorite part, there are so many options to choose from, plus the decor is spectacular.
