Medellín's "The 70" | A boulevard of nightlife
To share a bit of the party atmosphere of the city of Medellin, capital of the Department of Antioquia, in Colombia where I am now, I share with you my first publication in the Community Pinmapple. So far I always highlight the natural side and the ecological culture of this city, which I like to do very much, however today is different, because I show you the city side and the fun nightlife of Medellin and for this the best way is to do it from the Carrera 70, the boulevard that brings together bars and nightclubs in the city paisa.
Well, last weekend they celebrated the Day of Love and Friendship in Colombia. Yes, here in Colombia they have been celebrating this holiday on September 17 for more than 50 years and that is the reason for the red balloon decorations in the stores.
The truth is that I was curious that Colombians do not celebrate love and friendship on February 14, but in September and if you want to know more about this you can read here. In the meantime, let's continue along 70th Street among locals who take advantage of their terraces for nightlife fun.
The 70, wins with full hands
The nightlife on Carrera 70 is every day of the week, you can go on a Monday or Saturday night and you will get a lot of people and vehicles passing through, but the best is from Thursday that begins to heat up the atmosphere until Sunday, those four days will ensure hot nights. The establishments will be crowded with customers, consuming to the max, between conversations and laughter they are distracted spending the night very happy, and wow, 70 is a street with a lot of traffic but everyone gets a place to park and celebrate.
Even the bicycle lane, which is the street for cyclists, is taken by pedestrians without any inconvenience at night because it seems that anything goes on the 70.
Illuminated signs: Lots of light, color and brightness
Carrera 70 in Medellín is the closest thing to Las Vegas where I have not been, since I have not met in person the millionaire city, also called the city of lights and the city that never sleeps. I am satisfied with knowing the 70 here in Medellin which is a very colorful and illuminated by neon and LED signs that shine constantly. All the locals attract attention, none goes unnoticed, so the parties in the locals invite all paisas to have fun either having a beer, eating or dancing since night falls.
Don't think you can sleep here, if you are sleepy go home because the atmosphere for the party gets better from 9 p.m. until the body can take it and there is no place for cowardly bodies.
All roads lead to Rome
No matter which shortcut you take, nothing is lonely on Carrera 70 and without hesitation you will find large and small bars full of customers.
The 70 is a boulevard that offers variety to choose from and that's why it's very busy, so much so that it can be overwhelming to see so many cars and people until dawn. And people are still arriving, ready to have a good time.
A very typical attraction that travels along 70th Street. It is common to see very decorated buses that are rented for tourist rides but in this case, the Chivas Rumberas that travel along Calle 70 in Medellin transport a kind of worldly party of perdition that some people enjoy and that is why they pay around 10 dollars to be in the Chivas. These buses are very picturesque, impossible not to spot them, typical in Colombia so I was excited to see them but on Calle 70 they look like the bus of perdition, of meat and of all vices. It is complete madness what you see going on in there. The music of Latin rhythms, mainly vallenato and reguetón, is walking down Calle 70 like a traveling jukebox, warning that the party is on fire.
Even the King of Pop is on 70th Street
The best thing to see on 70th street is the King of Pop, as always Michael Jackson thrills everyone, well folks, how can we not say it, he is the best artist ever. Yes, I'm serious, so if you're a fan like me and @amjdancer ;) then you'll enjoy the show.
Electric poles that glow
As if it were not enough light also the poles along the street change colors, they are illuminated like a big laser sword.
A side with little light
A picture is worth a thousand, a picture without color or brightness and excuse me for showing the other side of the coin in Medellin's nightlife when what is expected is to show only one reality, the beautiful and happy one. Of course that is the one we want to see. Without time to think that while we all eat and drink it turns out that others also do it but from the garbage, those same wastes that we ourselves generate, from what we eat very happily in the restaurants.
While some laugh, others cry, but let the party go on... Sad reality.
Wow, what irony, just now it provoked me a pizza, but let it be Pizza Paisa to feel more in Medellin and it is not difficult to find one of these pizzerias on 70th street, but without wasting anything please, remember that it is a moral crime to throw food away, it is better to share with those who need it and if it is clean it is the most dignified thing to do.
Don't get confused. It's never quiet on Carrera 70, even if you think you see few people at one moment it's because the night has already begun for many in the bars. All the traffic lights on the boulevard are green until dawn.
