Love in the city and other peculiarities of the coastal town of Burgas

I am parting (with difficulty and pain 😌) from the beaches and the promenade to show you more of this beloved coastal city of Burgas.
And yet, still not far from them. Not yet. Although the magic of coastal cities is felt everywhere. It doesn't just stand there, on the beach, in the boats and the sea, in the fishing villages and the harbor, in the sky with the seagulls... It is everywhere. Every little street, alley in the park, every corner...
I'm not going to show you any pompous things today. But the ones I met along the way of my walk, in chronological order of shooting/meeting. And you are the ones who can say afterwards - you felt or not, understood or not, what I mean. πŸ˜ƒ

Away from the beach, but still not that far from it, I came across this chapel:

IMG_20221217_234308.jpg

I admit, the military coat of arms in front and the memorial plaques suggested to me from afar what kind of building it was, albeit a religious one.
I love visiting churches (only if photography inside is allowed!), but this new-look chapel somehow didn't appeal to me. Because of its military appearance. And I hadn't lied to myself - later I found out that this building was built in memory of those who died in the Balkan wars of the beginning of the 20th century. Besides, it looked closed anyway. So I made no attempt to visit it.

IMG_20221217_234325.jpg

A beautiful gazebo in the park, which made a very pleasant impression on me. Unexpectedly.
This kind of gazebos are not typical for my country.
It's true, where we are is not some random place, some random park. This is the Sea Garden, and since it dates back quite a long time, it is probably no coincidence that some elements of it remind me of the parks in some famous western spa resorts.

But what makes this waterfront "garden" stand out are the sculptures, in my opinion.
IMG_20221217_234357.jpg
(Sculpture is called "Homage" and is the work of a Romanian author from 1981.)

IMG_20221217_234420.jpg
"Sun of Atliman", Bulgarian author from 1980.

IMG_20221217_234443.jpg
"Eternity", author from the USSR.

IMG_20221217_234506.jpg
"Whisper" from 1982.

I have been here several times, trying to walk all the alleys and photograph all the sculptures - without success.
What impresses me the most is the time during which most of them were created and that they have managed to survive to this day. And also their surrealism and symbolism.

Of course, I won't show you many of them today. I'm just passing through here, I don't stop to look around much.

IMG_20221217_234529.jpg

I continue to a surprising sight.

IMG_20221217_234615.jpg

Actually, it's not so surprising. This is a continuation of my concept walk from last week - off-season sea beach, remember? But the condition of the beaches is only a small part of the "off season", right? There are other things. Like the empty lot of those bumping cars.

IMG_20221217_234554.jpg

Very symbolical.
And not only that.

IMG_20221217_234633.jpg

There's something special about this scene and these sets, and it's not just the desolation.
I think you see what I see - that pink chair that stays forlornly on the platform, the upside-down Coke crate and the butt with the inscription: "This is not a cash register!" on it.
Wait, there is a person inside, behind the open window.

And I can tell you that makes the situation even more ominous. But I take a picture, despite the threat and the fear. πŸ˜„

IMG_20221217_234650.jpg

And then another one, capturing the full container in the back, wondering if anyone will ever empty it, or if it will stay that way until the start of next season.

IMG_20230108_213819.jpg

After about 200 meters I come across another curious thing in the same garden - the facade of a kindergarten.

IMG_20230108_213853.jpg

I zoom in a little to get a little closer look at this curious thing - a drawing of a goldfish! Because the kindergarten itself is called that. πŸ˜ƒ

This colonnade of stones is something different. Military again. A war memorial in honor of the dead from the Balkan and the two world wars, which is located on Democracy Boulevard. Symbolic, right?

IMG_20230108_213923.jpg

I couldn't miss this forest of stones as it was in my path and part of the walk.
The building at the back, part of the Professional High School of Transport, is also worth noting because it is quite interesting. But by that time I was too tired to go into it in detail.

Too tired, but that's something I couldn't miss either. Inscription "love" on a street garbage container. 😍

IMG_20230108_214010.jpg

And I have to tell you that this inscription made a huge impression on me then. Because that's not the only place I've seen it.
It seemed to be scattered everywhere in this town that year. But this was the strangest place I saw it. πŸ˜ƒ
There is nothing more wonderful than visiting a city and being greeted with the word "love" plastered all over it.

So have you got any idea yet why this is my favorite coastal town in Bulgaria? 😊

Happy #WednesdayWak to you all! πŸ’Ÿ
See you next week on this wonderful occasion!

I really love how sometimes we travel all around the world, far, far away from our homes, searching for beautiful things, while at the same time there are real treasure within the reach of our arms :) Pleasure to walk today with your story! :)

I have to admit I'm surprised too. πŸ˜ƒ Due to certain circumstances in my life, I know and prefer to know more, parts of other countries than my own. But everything happened because of the last crisis years - that I rediscovered my country, in fact I discovered it for the first time. And I find it quite interesting. No matter the circumstances...

Wow those are amazing scenery over there. One thing I would alway love to do is travel outside my country and see other people and their culture, hopefully one day I get to experience that and so many more.

Yes, but it usually happens that one travels and travels to return (willingly or not) to one's own country and find that right there there are so many interesting things to see and visit 🀭

Ohh yes I can see why you love that area, so much to see and so charming, even though all deserted I can understand the ominous feel as well

Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks

The off-season has its advantages and disadvantages. It can be felt very well. I have always said this - a place can only be felt in the absence of people. So although ominous, I'm glad I had the chance to feel it and see its true face 😊

yes I think your spot on without people you get the true feel for a place and hence off season is better for that

@soulsdetour i wonder how every time you manage to amaze me with these beautiful pictures❣️ the most loved thing about sculpture is that they have a story of their own they say what the sculptor would have wanted to tell the world..❀️they speak a lot...and a word 'love' is fulfilling in itself..when you gove that to people you receive that in abundance too,πŸ€—

Well, I myself am amazed by the pictures I post. 😎 When did I make so many of them? Why did I photograph these things?... Every photo has its own story, by the way, like any work of art, every photo also says a lot about the one who takes it. Because each person sees different things during their walk.
Glad you liked them!

Homage, I have to admit that this is the great design and so iconic with the deep meaning behind. As in Cambodia where I live people created a lot of sculpture related to Khmer history, but rarely see such thing like this. The greatest work by Romanian author. Love this traveling!

To be fair, it's a lovely sculpture, but totally recognizable, I mean, its look totally lives up to the name. There is no mystery, no food for thought. Many of the other sculptures that I will also show someday are not like that. They are symbolic, surreal, they make you wonder what the author wanted to say, why he made them that way, how he felt, why he felt so, etc.
But I'm glad you like it so much 😊

The beautiful city, various buildings and natural scenery make me envious, I can't find such a thing here, maybe I have to travel far to see something as beautiful as you shareπŸ˜‡

Don't forget that one always thinks that things are more beautiful far away - in a foreign country, a foreign continent, etc. However, it turns out that there are enough good things around him at home 😊
