Waiting for the sunset

Speaking of the circle of life and its capture, here is another circle.

IMG_20230120_110137.jpg

In my previous post here I talked about the seasons. And today I'm going to talk about something much more often repeated. And you know what I discovered for myself about this process 😃

IMG_20230120_110201.jpg

I told you that the repetitive things in life are boring to me. But here's one of the best examples of a recurring thing that I can't get enough of.

IMG_20230120_113125.jpg

Sunsets.

Each season comes with its own characteristics, although the climate has changed so much in recent years. Yesterday, several close people had a birthday, and the topic we touched upon in our conversations was about what kind of snow and cold, terrible frost and sub-zero temperatures there have traditionally been on this exact day over the years.

IMG_20230120_113009.jpg

This year on that day there was rain, relatively high temperatures and very strong winds.
Therefore - we cannot talk about boredom and repetition in climate and seasons for some time. So, there is no reason for boredom here.
And yet...
But the sunsets...

IMG_20230120_110305.jpg

Do you know how many times I've told myself I'm not going to photograph the sunset tonight?
Well, it's just a sunset! Nothing more than another sunset. Which repeats itself over and over again. Which happens again and again. In the familiar objective-distanced way. Nothing personal, nothing emotional, nothing dramatic. The sunset is over there. It happens. Every day at the regular time. Nothing more.

IMG_20230120_113147.jpg

But if that day I happen to see it... Even if I'm just out of the house at that time on some occasion and I happen to see it... I usually can't help myself.

IMG_20230120_114335.jpg

Do you know how many photos of sunsets I have? And that's why I made this post, of course.
There was a period this summer when I even started doing a kind of conceptual photography, shooting the sunset every day from the same spot. There were amazing views. You know, the clouds, the main protagonists were divine, unique (well, every cloud, every sunset and every sky is unique every day - this has already been established by each of us). But those sunsets I'm talking about were something different.

IMG_20230120_113209.jpg

But the ones I'm showing you now are no less wonderful, aren't they?

I don't know if there is a word that expresses the addiction to sunsets. Now that occurred to me. But there sure is, right? I don't fool myself just to justify my condition, right? 🤔 I hope so 😄

IMG_20230120_110228.jpg

If this is not the case, things will look serious.🤭

Well, various unforeseen incidents balance things out. Like losing a lot of those photos taken back then...

IMG_20230120_113242.jpg

But there are so many more sunsets to photograph.

I don't have to wait a whole year for sunset to come. As I wait for summer. All winter, I mean. Here I wait only a few hours, a day. I'm not even waiting. The sunset is not waited for, because it is clear that it will come. Every day at a specific time. Unlike the seasons. But when it is not clear whether a sunset will come or not - I think then the end of the world has already come.

Okay, that's another topic now.

Hello dear friend @soulsdetour good day
Not everything repetitive is bad, there are things like watching sunsets that are simply magical and can be addictive when they are really beautiful.
The weather has changed so much that you no longer know what tomorrow will be like, I just know that they are becoming more extreme
Beautiful photos, excellent shots
enjoy the weekend

Hi dear @jlufer, I'm not saying repetitiveness is something bad. I might be just kind of tired of some things 😃, which is not good, of course. I think that the last three years have literally turned our whole world upside down and mixed up all our perceptions and feelings, visions and intentions. Or at least I feel so confused and write things that I can't even explain and can't find the right words for...
Anyways, glad you liked the pictures. Have a great weekend as well!

Repetition is not a bad thing, it’s as regular ad the beat of our hearts. I love sunsets and we live in an area where they are frequent. I mean, we can see them better since we’ve moved house because the new area is more open, the skies seem bigger.

I assume you are talking about a big city. When I lived in the capital, I rarely saw sunsets. Then I found out that the residents often go to a high place outside the city so that they can watch the sunset and the city from above. It was strange to me then, I could not understand why there is always such a crowd in this place. I've been there a few times and I felt like people looked like zombies or high or something. But it was because of this need to see the sun and the sunset - something impossible in the big city.

That’s pretty much it. We lived in a big town, rather than a city but surrounded by larger buildings than our own house. Now that we live in a village outside a different town, which is higher up on a hill, we enjoy the spectacle of sunsets. It’s really nice.

Hahaha, real pleasure to read this, as I have similar attitude towards the sunsets :)
I love them much more than sunrises, I have to admit :)

Really? I somehow thought you prefer sunrises. 😄 I don't know why, maybe because real/pro photographers are such enthusiasts who will do anything for the perfect photo. Ready to get up early, ready to be in extreme weather conditions, etc. Well, for me, getting up early is an extreme condition and I'm not at all ready for that just for a photo 😃
Have a wonderful weekend yourself!
