One of the most "strange" films for its message and story that I have seen in recent years is Mad God (2021), a personal project by Phil Tippett. Who specializes in the design of creatures, stop-motion puppets and 3D characters.
Influenced in his childhood by the special effects produced by Ray Harryhausen. Tippet creates his studio by making an experimental film called Prehistoric Beast. The realism of the dinosaurs earned him so that he would later work on creating the special effects of Jurassic Park, having a marked trajectory after having made the animated robot sequences for Robocop and Star Wars.
A countless path of success due to the meticulousness of his preparations led him to resume an independent project that he began to work on in 1990, entitled Mad God. In 2010 this film enters a kickstarter campaign to obtain the necessary budget for its production, in 2021 it comes to light.

Synopsis: the protagonist descends with a beacon of light through a Dantesque labyrinth, while he advances through this world in ruins, he is guided by a map that deteriorates along the way.
Upon meeting mutants, victims of captive torture, nameless and faceless drones, who are ruled by a monstrous baby, the story will take a turn to show us the metaphors, of abstract forms in the universe of this character.

Undoubtedly the atmosphere of this film is tense, dark, heartbreaking, this surreal, chaotic and abstract composition is a work of art in terms of production due to the degree of realism in the movements of the puppets, the soundtrack and everything that happens around makes it a quite disturbing material, where new technologies such as virtual reality were used to generate this film.

Tippet Studio founded in 1984 by phil and his wife Jules Roman, the studio was born as a stop motion animation company, after having built the creatures of Robocop and jurassic park, the studio changed its focus to use a technology that used connected sensors by computer to the movable joints of three-dimensional characters. This earned VFX Director Craig Hayes an Academy Award for Scientific and Technical Achievement. Later the study would do commercial, cinematographic works making effects and creatures that generated technological advances in the audiovisual industry.

Among its most striking titles:

2021: Falcon and the Winter Soldier
2013: Ted
2009: Twilight Saga
1999: The Bicentennial Man

2013: Ted
2009: Saga crepúsculo
1999: El hombre bicentenario
