It's a different war film from what I've been used to, previously I had seen stories that focused on adults or teenagers and the appearances of children were few, without showing the real traumas and suffering to which they were subjected, an example of these films is Life is Beautiful where the co-protagonist and off narrator is a child who lived through war situations without leaving him with so much pain, Beasts of No Nation is the opposite, it is a film starring children showing the cruel reality of war.
Beasts of No Nation, is based on a novel that is the compilation of several interviews with children who were part of the war in Africa, where their childhood was taken away from them to form part of armed groups without knowing what the real cause of their struggle was. It stars Agu (Abraham Attah) who represents the children who have lived through these atrocities. As a boy of about 13 or 14, he managed to convey everything the viewer can expect: his first role and it made him the winner of several awards.
A film streamed on Netflix in 2015 and at the same time released in cinemas, Netflix violated the 90-day cinema exclusivity time, which caused upset and those affected threatened to boycott the film. I don't know if they followed through on their threat.

Bestias de ninguna nación, como se titula en español, está basada en una novela que es la recopilación de varias entrevistas a niños que fueron parte de la guerra en África, donde se les fue arrebatada su infancia para formar parte de grupos armados sin saber cuál era la verdadera causa de su lucha. Está protagonizada por Agu (Abraham Attah) quien representa a los niños que les ha tocado vivir estas atrocidades. Siendo un niño de unos 13 o 14 años, logró transmitir todo lo que el espectador puede esperar: su primer papel y lo hizo ganador de varios premios.
Una película transmitida por Netflix en el 2015 y que al mismo tiempo se estrenó en cines, Netflix violó el tiempo de exclusividad de 90 días para cines, lo que causó molestias y los afectados amenazaron con boicotear la película. No sé si llegaron a cumplir la amenaza.
Plot | Argumento

With the streets full of unrest, the men of the family tried to flee in hiding, but were discovered and it is when they lose their lives one after the other in events that are linked to the circumstances, lost without knowing what to do Agu flees into the jungle trying to survive without being able to assimilate that his whole family was killed in front of his own eyes, Exhausted, hungry and thirsty, he is found by other children who look like little savages with weapons and they take him to the commander, he is the leader of the rebel defence forces, for military or guerrilla they are the same thing in my opinion.
From there begins a new cycle for this child, learning the law of the strongest, he had no choice, they didn't let him choose whether to stay or go, he simply fell and obeyed because if he ran away they would kill him, at first these children are kidnapped and held against their will, but in a very ingenious way they convince them to follow, they feed them and use their pain to nurture a hatred for the real military and those who could bring the system under control, then they teach them to use weapons, to obey, to respect an imaginary rank and every day they foster hatred for an enemy that is not the children but the adults who lead these groups, they turn them into murderers and they are abused in a thousand and one ways, making them into beasts without a nation.
Agu tenía una familia numerosa compuesta por sus padres, hermanos y abuelos, eran de escasos recursos, pero tenían lo necesario para ser felices y convivir en armonía, se rodeaba de amigos para hacer travesuras, desde el inicio se puede ver la presencia de militares en las calles y el ambiente se siente algo tenso para los pobladores, de repente se puede ver un caos en las calles y Agu no entiende lo que sucede, en su familia toman la decisión de separarse enviando a la mamá de Agu lejos con su hijo menor para aumentar la posibilidad de vida, mientras los demás se quedan con la intención de reunirse después, las escenas de separación entre madre e hijo son muy angustiantes y desde el inicio prepara al espectador para 137 minutos de intensidad.
Con las calles llenas de disturbios, los hombres de la familia intentaron huir escondiéndose, pero fueron descubiertos y es cuando pierden la vida uno tras otro en sucesos que se van enlazando con las circunstancias, perdido sin saber qué hacer Agu huye a la selva intentando sobrevivir sin poder asimilar que toda su familia fue asesinada frente a sus propios ojos, agotado, con hambre y sed lo encuentran otros niños que parecen pequeños salvajes con armas y lo llevan frente al comandante, es el líder de las fuerzas de defensa rebeldes, para militares o guerrilleros vienen siendo lo mismo a mi entender.
Desde allí comienza un nuevo ciclo para este niño, aprendiendo la ley del más fuerte, no tuvo opción no lo dejaron elegir, si quedarse o irse, simplemente se cayó y obedeció porque si huía lo iban a matar, al principio estos niños son secuestrados y retenidos en contra de su voluntad, pero de una forma muy ingeniosa los convencen de seguirlos, los alimentan y usan su dolor para alimentar un odio hacia los militares verdaderos y los que podían poner en control el sistema, entonces los enseñan a usar las armas, a obedecer, a respetar un rango imaginario y cada día fomentan el odio a un enemigo que no son de los niños sino de los adultos que lideran estos grupos, los convierten en asesinos y son abusados de mil y una forma, haciendo que sean unas bestias sin nación.

🎥 I finished watching this film with my stomach upset, with tears on my face, a lot of indignation, pain, frustration, although I saw it months ago I had not had the strength to write this post, it is a beautifully executed film of something so monstrous and if you still have doubts about watching it I recommend you watch the trailer, I can not say that I enjoyed it, I can't say that I enjoyed it, but I did feel it very deep, I think it is created with a lot of responsibility and in a generic way, you can't place it in a specific war nor place it in an exact time and I guess it is because wherever there is war and in the time it happens, children will live the same terrible experience that they brought to the screen in this great film.
🎥 Hubo muchas escenas fuertes, difíciles de imaginar, las más dolorosas para mí fueron donde el mismo reflexionaba sobre los hechos que hacía y tenían temor de Dios, se veía como un monstruo y se resistía a seguir cometiendo esos delitos, como violar a mujeres y asesinar a sangre fría inocentes, esta era una de las tantas pruebas que debían pasar para seguir en su hermandad, también se me hizo difícil y me causo mucho dolor ver como estos niños eran vulnerados por la persona que supuestamente tenía que protegerlos, alguien que en un momento llegaron admirar y después se convierte en su verdugo, El comandante.
🎥 Termine de ver esta película con el estómago revuelto, con lágrimas en mi rostro, mucha indignación, dolor, frustración, aunque la vi hace meses no había tenía la entereza de escribir este post, es una película bellamente ejecutada de algo tan monstruoso y que si aún tienes duda de verla te recomiendo ver el trailer, no puedo decir que la disfrute, pero si la sentí muy profunda, creo está creada con mucha responsabilidad y de una forma genérica es decir, no te puedes ubicar en una guerra específica ni ubicarla en un tiempo exacto y supongo que es porque donde sea que haya guerra y en el tiempo que suceda, los niños vivirán la misma experiencia terrible que llevaron a la pantalla en esta grandiosa película.

La realidad de los niños en África es algo terrible de pensar y mucho más de asimilar cuando la conoces. Al ser manipulables por la necesidad, los adultos se aprovechan para usarlos a su favor.
Salvando las distancias, cuantos niños no vemos en las calles pidiendo o vendiendo, mientras sus padres los esperan en las casas. Esta guerra sin armas, también deforma las vidas de estos pequeños...
Asi es, aunque no tiene comparación con lo que viven en la guerra. Te imvito a ver esta película 🥲.
Que triste realidad cuando la guerra llega sin avisar y la vida cambia en un instante, me imagino cuanto lloraste amiga, soy de las que le atrae ver este tipo de películas y sufrir al mismo tiempo es como ser masoquista por así decirlo, y eso es lo que me dicen, sin embargo, Creo que estas películas son producidas para llegar a lo más profundo del corazón de las personas y ver cuanta maldad existe, son monstruos malvados que destruyen todo a su paso y los niños en medio de su inocencia pueden convertirse en máquinas de crueldad por eso los entrenan quemando todos sus sentimientos.
Ahi Laura, mira, no lloré tanto. Si supieras nada, más se me salían algunas lágrimas, más fue el dolor y la impotencia que sentí. Quedé con un nudo en la garganta por horas y hasta me asusté porque sufro de tiroides, hubiese sido mejor que llorara a moco suelto.
Comparto tu opinión y también creo que quienes hacen estas películas quieren dejar de lo malo algo bueno a la humanidad.
