Investing in Porn
When tribes first started, and many of us were getting airdrops, I joked around with my family that I was selling Weed and Porn and getting paid in crypto.
It was true, as I did buy and sell PORN and WEED through the Engine
Because PORN (and WEED) had a four day payout (versus the seven day payout that many tribes have), I used to go to the main page (dporn.co), and upvote the most recent posts that were more than 5 minutes old, and earn some quick curation cents.
The shininess soon wore off and I forgot all about PORN until recently when I read a comment about its low token count.
According to this screen shot taken directly from its site, there are only 2 million tokens and 75% are staked.
Also, there are less than 5000 tokens for sale.
This seems like a project that is ripe for a moon!
A working site, low token count, small sell cap, and constant content (10-20 posts per day).
One major downside I noted was that the content was difficult to see
I went to the site, and saw lots of "NSFW" labels. Clicking on the "reveal content" led me to another pop up window, where I had to put in a password.
Typing in extra passwords to view porn, whether it is a HIVE related project or not, just seemed like a bad idea.
I also tried using peakd.com with the username of some of the dporn artists and found that their posts don't show up on that interface.
I see other posts by @MistressAvanya, but not her post from 1 hour ago.
I am surrounded by kids all the time
Which means I may have added some extra censorships to my computer. Still I don't remember placing them.
Does PORN on the blockchain sound like a sound investment to you? I would love to hear your opinion.
PS. I am purposely NOT tagging this post as PORN because I want to make sure that it pops up on other interfaces. I don't believe that PORN is being censored on this platform, but better "safe" than sorry.
It's kind of dormant project but I think that Leo will lead the example and pull the wagon.

I have noticed that many of the tokens are getting a breath of fresh air since LEO started gaining value.
It feels a little like bitcoin carrying alt-coins.

I’m not seeing much going on from dPo I’m actually in the process of getting a site to start using the site but it doesn’t look like there are many creators
Funny thing is porn gets more traffic than Amazon, Twitter and Netflix combined so if there was just a little love put into it it could by far be the most successful tribe
I agree. Porn is huge on the internet. I bet it still accounts for more than half the traffic.
At first, I was enthusiastic about the project but it flailed. They had some people posting a bunch of pics from online. There was not too many true content creators.
It is a shame. I hope your site takes off. Let us know what the project is so we can support it.

Well hello there first if you go to the PEAKD website because that's where I wrote from on the right-hand side under your picture click that then go to settings under settings you'll see a tab that says content under that you'll see NSFW it will say always show never show and one other option. I hope this helps. I'm not sure that this post specifically required a porn tag but when posting any inappropriate content it's always better safe than sorry it would suck for some poor old chap to be surfing through and land on a porn post accidentally with his boss standing behind him.
Found it! It was an enjoyable story and a good read. I will have to go back and read the other parts of the story soon.

I think I sold pretty much all of my PORN tokens right at the beginning. I am wishing I had held on to them a bit longer. I think there are already a ton of outlets for this kind of content, so why not allow it on the blockchain as well.

PORN on blockchain sounds like a winner to me.
Dporn has disappointed thus far. I havent seen much activity or progress. As @oldtimer said, seems dormant.
It shows more than a valid concept is needed to make a project successful.

When looking at the site, I found that there are daily postings.
From what I understand about PORN, you only really need one good content creator to carry the project.
An article written on leofinance for example, has a shorter shelf life than a good picture or nice video clip.
Seems to me like this project needs an artist, and a rework of the rewards - to encourage models to make "evergreen"content, and encourage viewers to look through "old" stuff and pay for it.

Hi, @metzli we do have a daily postings albeit not as many as other tribes.
Yes, it could take one person but you also have to have a reason to buy in on the token. We are working on a few things. We recently switched our hosts to be able to handle some things we have coming.
There is something to be said to what you wrote here. The "evergreen" content is only as good as the payout window ( 4 days in this case ) but the traffic is good from "evergreen" and we should be able to figure out a way to take advantage of it.

I guess you should monitor traffic on posts and can send tips even after payout windows for content creator.

We've not explored the potential in that project enough. I had a conversation with 3speak team about enabling the upload of porn clips, as that would drive traffic through the roof around here.
For now, it is just a bunch of pictures and shit. Also, the porn site should remove that NSFW warning before viewing posts. I mean, the tag should remain, since it will show on other front ends but in Dporn, there's really no need for it.
Porn and sports industry are gold mines that we haven't truly explored in this community. All it takes is one endorsement from a porn star that has interest in Bitcoin.

It opens up if you have your NSFW settings set to "always show" and it would be open. It isn't open to people who aren't logged in.

Video hosting for starters. That will increase interest in the front end.
I also think that running google ads in places like Xvideos, pornhub and other similar sites will drive traffic upwards in Dporn, especially when peoeple realise that they could earn from their content.
Finally, perhaps you could also take the onlyfans model and then make it a bit more crypto friendly by creating a portal where people make verified accounts and then give these verified accounts the freedom to have private sessions and content for paying customers. Customers can pay with hive, porn, and any other token of choice. Through this move, you will have created a very good use case for crypto through porn.
Honestly I don’t think so. These girls can go on Snapchat, and only fans to make so much more money. Maybe if dporn set it up to work like those places, then yes.
Let’s say a video would cost 15$, then the only way to pay for it is dporn token, then that would be smart. As far as them making content, and relying on upvotes, the girls will not be here long. I suppose it is a good place to promote your only fans, or snap chat, but that’s it.

I just don’t think Dporn will be that successful. Due to the fact it is pretty degrading to basically sell your body for pennys. Now maybe it could morph into something then just blogging and upvotes, then yes it could be huge.
