Hello, everyone! It's time for another Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge from Splinterlands! For this post, we will talk about the Rise of the Commons, which allows only common and rare units may be used in battles. Summoners are unaffected by this rule. So the challenge is, what summoner will you use to make use of this ruleset? For this post, I made use of an Earth Summoner to help my common and rare units win the battle. Let's take a closer look.

RULESET: Rise of the Commons

Description:
Only common and rare units may be used in battles.
Summoners are unaffected by this rule.

Battle Configuration

For this battle, here is the ruleset and mana cap to be considered: Here we have only one ruleset, which is "Rise of the Commons: Only common and rare units may be used in battles." The mana cap is 27, and the active elements are Water, Earth, Life, Death and Dragon. The mana cap is just quite right to use my battle configuration. With that said, here is my line-up for this battle.

Summoner: Mylor Crowling - This card only costs 3 mana and it has the ability to give allied monsters with Thorns ability. Melee enemies that will attack monsters with Thorns will receive back fire damage. I think this ability is very useful in this kind of ruleset.

Position 1: Venari Marksrat - This card is very useful in any ruleset because of its ability Martyr. When a unit with the martyr ability dies in a battle, it gives adjacent characters +1 to all stats. I put this card in the first position to make sure that its ability will have a huge chance to get triggered.

Position 2: Mycelic Infantry - To maximize the effect of my Thorns ability, I used this sturdy tank that has the Shield ability. Shield reduces damage from melee and ranged attacks while they receive backfire damage from Thorns.

Position 3: Goblin Psychic - This monster is my first support with its Tank Heal ability. Its purpose is to heal any damage that Mycelic Infantry will receive. It also has 2 magic damage, so it can also be used to deal damage to the enemy.

Position 4: Scavo Hireling - This monsters is my second support with its Repair ability. Repair restores some armor to the friendly unit whose armor has taken the most damage.

Position 5: Goblin Thief - This monster is my first and last unit. This is my back line attacker and hoping to annihilate support monsters from the enemy line up.

The Strategy: To summarize, my strategy in this battle is to use one Tank and two Supports and one Back line attacker, a typical strategy you might say. I focused on making my tank as sturdy as possible to last long in the battle while all my monsters are dealing return damage using the Thorns ability that was granted by Mylor Crowling.

Let's Rumble

The enemy used used Helios Matriarch to summon a Gladiator and it summoned Katrelba Gobson with Sneak and Bloodlust ability. The good thing is that this card has melee attack and can be damaged by the Thorn ability.

In Round 1, my strategy worked perfectly. Katrelba Gobson attacked my Globlin Thief and suffered damage from Thorns ability.

And in Round 2, you can see that the enemy Unicorn Mustang also suffered from Thorns ability and other monsters inflicted zero damage to my Mycelic Infantry.

And in Round 3, the enemy Unicorn Mustang was already defeated. And without the main attacker on the enemy side, this secured my win in this battle.

Here is the Battle Replay from Splinterlands.

Good thing that the enemy did not placed the monster unit with Martyr in position 1 and also did not used a monster with Heal/Tank Heal ability. It also helped that the enemy did not use monster with magic attack because Mycelic Infantry's Shield ability will not have any effect on magic attacks.
