Introduction

Good day, Splinterlands! It's time again for Splinterlands' SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! featuring DIEMONSHARK! Let me share with you one of my most recent battles with Diemonshark. This monster is one tenacious beast that bears the name of one ferocious beast in the water. How did I won using Diemonshark? Let's have a look.

Here is a quick rundown of Diemonshark stats.

DIEMONSHARK
Edition: CHAOS LEGION
Rarity: RARE
Element: WATER
Attack: MELEE
Abilities: TRAMPLE AT LVL 1, ENRAGE AT LVL 4, RETALIATE AT LVL 7

LORE
Diemonsharks travel alone throughout the stars searching for prey and territory. They are fearsome beasts with lightning-fast reflexes. Diemonsharks are extremely territorial and attack any creature that encroaches on their land. The Chaos Legion trains them as transports for equipment. Since they can travel by air, ground, or sea, they are ideally suited for the task.

Battle Configuration

The Modern Format rulesets for this fight is Equal Opportunity and the maximum amount of mana allowed is 42. The available elements are Fire, Water, Earth and Life. Because of the ruleset Opportunity, I used all melee attack monsters using Kelya Frendul as my Summoner. My approach is to defeat the opponent with speed and attack power and Diemonshark at Level 4 has good stats in terms of speed and attack as well as it has enough shield to act as tank.

Rulesets
EQUALIZER
All Monsters have the Opportunity ability.
Speed and HP is the trick here: higher speed will let you target enemy's low HP monster first,
opening the way for your slower monsters to deal damage to higher HP enemy monsters.Keep lower HP monsters in front. Monsters who have two attack types should always be preferred.
Splintercards Equal Opportunity Ruleset

Line Up
Summoner: Kelya Frendul
Ability: All Friendly Monsters have +1 Speed. All Friendly Monsters have +1 Armor.

I need Speed and Power because of the ruleset. And to get the increase in Speed, I used Kelya Frendul for its +1 Speed buff. Also, its +1 Armor will make Diemonshark more sturdy in the battle.
Position 1: Coeurl Lurker
Ability at Level 1: Taunt - All enemy Monsters target this Monster (if they are able to). Dodge - Has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks.

The idea here is for Coeurl Lurker to taunt all opponent monsters while my other melee attackers will defeat the enemy one by one. Also, Coeurl Luker will receive +1 Speed from Kelya which will increase its chance of evading enemy physical attacks.
Position 2: Diemonshark
Ability at Level 4: Trample - When a Monster with Trample hits and kills its target, it will perform another attack on the next Monster on the enemy Team. Enrage - Has increased Melee attack and Speed when damaged

Diemonshark at Level 4 can be a very good attacker and tank. Its 4 speed will give it a higher chance to attack first and if it killed the opponent, the Trample ability will be activated and can do multiple kills in one turn. It also has 6 nice armor which can withstand enemy physical attacks to trigger its Enrage ability. If that was triggered, its melee attack and speed and increase, making it a good attacker.
Position 3: Deeplurker
Ability at Level 4: Opportunity - Monsters with the Opportunity ability may attack from any position and will target the enemy Monster with the lowest health

This monster's ability is quite redundant in this battle because the ruleset already gives Opportunity to all monsters. However, I think this is one of my best melee attackers in my deck at low mana cost.
Position 4: Demented Shark
Ability at Level 3: Inspire - Gives all friendly Monsters +1 Melee attack.

Demented Shark is one of the key players here since I am using an all melee attack configuration. Its Inspire ability will boost the melee attack of friendly monsters, including Diemonshark and at the same time, it can attack at any position in this ruleset.
Position 5: Pelacor Bandit
Ability at Level 5: Sneak - Targets the last Monster on the enemy Team instead of the first Monster. Flying - Has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Monsters who do not have the Flying ability

This monster also has high speed and at the same time has the Flying ability. This will increase the chance of evading physical attacks.
Position 6: Xenith Monk
Ability at Level 3: Heal - Restores a portion of the Monster's health each round

I put Xenith Monk in the last position in case of the enemy attacking from the back. It will serve as my mini tank with its Heal ability.

Let's Battle!

The goal, as previously mentioned, is to outspeed and outattack the opponent. After gaining the +1 Speed and +1 Armor from Kelya Frendul, the lowest speed in my lineup is now 4. Due to Demented Shark's +1 Melee Attack, my lineup will also gain +1 Melee Attack. However, the opponent possesses a Time Mage that lowers the speed of opponent monsters and a Disintegrator that lowers melee attack of opponent monsters. These will cancel Kelya Frendul's +1 Speed and Demented Shark's Inspire power. Additionally, there are monsters on the opponent's side that have Magic attacks, rendering my approach of making the opponent's physical attacks miss ineffective. For my lineup, this is a challenging match. Let's look at how I did.

image.png

Coeurl Lurker's Dodge and high speed didn't go well according to plan and was defeated at Round 1. Enemy monsters' attack did not miss, even Disintegrator with a Speed of 1. LOL. Oh well, I still have my Diemonshark to redeem my team. With the absence of Coeurl Lurker, Diemonshark will be my Position 1 monster in the next round.

image.png

In round 2, my monsters were able to defeat Shieldbeared and were able to land attacks to other opponent monsters as well. Also, Pelacor Bandit managed to dodge Pelacor Arbalest attack and Diemonshark was able to remove Chaos Knight's Armor.

image.png

In round 3, my Pelacor Bandit and Demented Shark were defeated and my lineup defeated enemy Pelacor Arbalest. This resulted to a negative buff for my melee attackers. With 3 monsters on my side and 4 on opponent side, I thought of losing the battle.

In round 4, my strategy kicked in. Diemonshark attacked first, followed by Xenith Monk and Deepluker and focused on attacking Chaos Knight. This brought Chaos Knight down.

Moving to Round 7, Disintegrator's attack finally missed and in Round 8, Diemonshark's Trample finally activated. At this point, Diemonshark already has 5 melee attack and 8 speed and together with Deepurker, the team managed to defeat the opponent.

Did my strategy work?

My plan seemed to have worked, but not until round 4. Because the opponent monsters didn't miss and had magic attack monsters, my plan to have Coeurl Lurker taunt the enemy while the rest of my monsters took off each opponent monster one at a time didn't work out. Additionally, Time Mage and Disintegrator countered the +1 Speed enhancement of Kelya Frendul and the +1 Melee Attack of Demented Shark. The fact that Diemonshark has more armor, speed, and attack strength than the opponent monsters is a good thing and led me to victory. Although it was a close game, the team was able to prevail.
