Splinterlands Fan Art - Flame Monkey

Splinterlands Fan Art - Flame Monkey

Hello everyone! I am back to doing more Splinterlands fan art. For this fan art, I drew Flame Monkey, a Common Fire Unit from the Untamed Reward card set. It has been pouring heavily outside, and doing fan arts has really entertained me these past few days. I disconnected from Facebook, which was my source of news before, and I think there is still a Typhoon out there. I guess I should switch to Twitter. Hehehe. I am hoping that my friends and family are safe and that this gloomy weather will still have a positive impact on us.

Here is the card reference image of Flame Monkey in Splinterlands.

These large monkeys were bred for the Kobolds some two hundred years ago as a gift from the Gloridax. They are easy to train and can sustain incredibly high temperatures, but the Flame Monkey’s greatest feature is its ability to make fire by rubbing its hands together rapidly.

I chose this image because it is simple and I am still practicing the right way of applying shadows and colors.

Here are the materials that I used to create this fan art.

  • Android Tablet
  • Clip Studio Paint

Here is my reference for this work.

I started creating my fan art by creating the line art over a light shade of blue. This color is somewhat calming, and it is perfect for the weather. I then duplicated the line art and blurred the other one. I then added the flat colors and the light brown color from the source of the flame. I added another layer to add highlights on the left side of this fan art. I also added bright red on the right side for the reflection.

I then began creating the flame using shades of red, orange, and yellow and smudging them a little. I also added grass on its feet as well as on the base of the flame. To emphasize the character, I added shades of blue, green, and yellow in the background. Lastly, I added the purple highlight on its cheeks to level up its cuteness.😄

And here are the step-by-step image of my fan art.

For the last step, I added texture on its body and head using a brown color and also some white materials on the back ground. Here is the final output of my fan art.

My favorite part of this fan art is the flame. I did not make line art for the flame because I wanted to be as creative as possible in creating this one. and, of course, the purple highlight on its cheeks. Hehehe
That's it, and I hope you like this fan art. I hope to create more in the future.

Stay safe and dry everyone!

Me too! We had an on-and-off power, so I have to save my batteries. 😅 Thank God the sun is up already.

This is an adorable monkey, especially the eyes! I like the little fire detail on the forehead too!

It's raining again here. The good thing is that the wind is not so strong in our area. Keep safe!
