My Thoughts On The New Splinterlands Roadmap

Let me be clear I love Splinterlands if it wasn't for Splinterlands Hive wouldn't be where it's at today and a flood of income wouldn't have happened to myself and others without out.

That being said it's hit some rather tough times lately but the team and the community continue to go after it. In general I think the team needs to do a better job however of figuring out supply and demand in the game as it's become heavily saturate the last year for the demand and continues to be on that track.

Before we get into the roadmap here I also want to say that I hope the team is not counting on Land to save their butts because if they are I think they are going to be disappointed.

The Updated Roadmap

Q1

Q1 of 2023 brings in the introduction of the DEC-B which personally I voted no for and you can read about there here Voting No on DEC-B I don't feel that brings any value to DEC and instead just inflates things again for what looks like another 6 months till it's going to be used.

Season Rentals I'm a fan of as it gives a way for new players and old players alike a chance to rent out cards for the season instead of daily. MY hopes are this actully increases earnings from rentals or at least keeps them more steady as the daily rentals we see spikes at the end of season.

Land Surveying might heat things up a bit as we should be able to see what the land is, what it mines and could see some better trading as people lock in the plots they want.

Soulbound reward cards are ok as long as they can be unlocked through DEC burn or SPS burn. This injects a value into the card instead of it being used for inflation like we currently see with bot accounts burning massive amounts of reward cards. In this case now you either use them or you pay to make it liquid thus removing the burn to dec that is currently being abused by bot accounts.

Q2

I don't know what SPS delegation rental markets are but I'm curious to learn more about them. If anyone does know please drop that in the comments below.

Ranked battles will now be in SPS thus giving it a little more reason to stake SPS or at least some of it instead of going full liquid on it. I don't see this improving the value of SPS but at least it will make a few more accounts stake something which will help with all quality areas of the game.

Second promo card sale I'm curious how these do. I understand they are sold for company revenue but I still feel that some of that revenue including fee collection from markets should be returned back into the game some how. The most natural way feels like SPS instead of it all being a huge sink out of the game at least it restores some value to the assets.

Q3

This is the kicker and where I honestly get disappointed. Currently it means that active land wont be happening till at least Q3 however with development we all know things get delayed and take longer. This honestly makes me think we wont see active land in the game till Q4 of 2023 which is what I feel a HUGE wait and delay compared to how the team made it sound how close land was all this time. Let's be honest I'm sure there were some of you expecting in late 2022. We are now waiting a full year more!

Final Thoughts

My hopes are that the team is able to get things figured out to not over extend the team again, be smart with the amount of money going out vs coming in and also provide value back into the game through fees on the market and ALL general sales.

If this can be accomplished before land is released then I see land being a major bull for the game that we have all been hoping for. If they can't and it continues to slug along while assets continue to lose value we are in for some rough times in during the bull market.
