Both works crews from Toyota and Hyundai without finish at Finnish national rally event
Hi, friends!
Current World Rally Championship teams with the factory support face the limited number of testing days from this season. But they have an option of entering some smaller national rally championship events and that way they can test whatever they want.
To be honest I am not sure if they can test some aero-stuff on their cars because everything must be according the homologation rules and books.
That means that if they have some new unhomologated parts, they can't use them at the official rally event. They can make a deal with the organizer about this, but that is not according to the rules by the FIA.
But the good thing is now that the fans will be able to see the Rally1 cars in action on the national rally championship events and the teams will be able to make more mileage ahead of the big WRC events.
M-Sport Ford sent their top gun and 2019 World Rally champion Ott Tanak on the snow event of his native Estonian championship which he won. Toyota sent Takamoto Katsuta, while Hyundai sent Esapekka Lappi on the Finnish national rally championship event called Kuopio Rally where they showed a strong pace but they both crashed out so they haven't been able to finish event.
I guess that this was a good thing for the teams to try a different set-ups which they for sure did.
