French rally legend Delecour enters Monte Carlo Rallye 2022 with Alpine A110 RGT rally car

French rally ace and four time World Rally Championship event winner Francois Delecour entered once again for the legendary rally which every driver wants to win and we are talking about Monte Carlo Rallye 2022.

I used to call Delecour a godfather because he just looks like my godfather! My friends were always laughing at this but it's true - he looks like my godfather so much.

This year's edition will be Delecour's 22nd time to drive this rally. I really don't know anyone else with so many starts as Delecour has. First time I saw him in action at the end of 1992 while watching the season coverage of the World Rally Championship.

In 1993 I followed him at Network Q Rally GB day by day. At this time he drove for the works Ford team and it is true that his best results were achieved with the blue oval. Yeah, he scored all four WRC wins with them, no doubt about that.

He was also remembered as a Peugeot driver, first when he drove super screaming 306 Maxi and later when he drove their super successful 206 WRC rally car. He got fired from the Peugeot after he secretly tested for Hyundai at the end of 2000. Some journalist made a photo from the test and showed it to the Peugeot boss Corrado Provera who fired Delecour immediately.

Ford took his baby once again giving him a drive with their Focus WRC in the 3rd works car and that was really cool season for both sides. In 2002 he drove for Mitsubishi works squad and that was his last full season as a works driver. That season was full of disappointment because that Lance WRC didn't work well as both sides wanted (Mitsubishi and Francois Delecour)

He stayed in the sport driving from time to time and especially in the Romanian national championship but every time he got chance, he would enter Monte Carlo Rallye, as his favorite rally.

This time he will be behind a steering wheel of Alpine A110 RGT, the rally car he knows very well. The co-driver will be Jean-Rodolphe Guigonnet and the class is RGT.
