Onboard rally video of the day - Gianluigi Galli with Ford Focus WRC at Rally Germany

Hi, friends!

Italian Gianluigi Galli had only one works drive in his career and I am talking about the stint with Mitsubishi Ralliart works team. He showed some speed there but I just can't see why Isao Tori (Mitsubishi team boss from that time) put Galli instead of Gilles Panizzi who gave them a podium finish at Monte Carlo Rallye 2005 while Galli never delivered them anything more then a 4th place overall (Sweden 2006, not anymore works entry but Mitsubishi Ralliart Italy instead).

OK, I can see why they took Harri Rovanpera as their leading driver but why they gave a seat to Galli instead of Panizzi who would always finish on the places like Galli but without some spectacular driving, that is not understandable to me.

Well, at least we had an opportunity to met a new driver at that time (although I heard for Galli before when he scored the fastest time on one special stage with the Group N car, that's bravery).

His best drives came after his Mitsubishi era when he drove as a privateer with Peugeot 307 WRC (3rd overall in Argentina), Citroen Xsara WRC and Ford Focus WRC (3rd overall at Rally Norway). He was always better performing on snow and gravel then on tarmac and maybe that is the reason why he was better respected in the Mitsu era then Gilles Panizzi.

Here we have an onboard from the special stage number one of his last rally with Ford when he had a heavy accident later in the rally with some broken bones and lying in the hospital after that.

You could see from the steering wheel how much he put some risks while other guys drive much more smooth which brings a results overall.

Anyway, enjoy Italian's drive and learn from him... :)
