Toyota WRC team signs Lappi to share third Yaris Rally1 car with Ogier

Hi, friends!

Flying Finn Esapekka Lappi is back home at Toyota where he scored his first and only WRC win in his native Finland on the super fast gravel roads.

I think that he got the best possible seat in the World Rally Championship because Toyote is so good organized team which pays their drivers, opposite to M-Sport Ford who asks the money from their drivers for a seat.

In my opinion Lappi is a tog dog of rallying but he chose wrong at the end of 2018 when he left Toyota for Citroen.

Citroen just didn't have the right car because even seven time WRC champion couldn't make the car winning.

Where is Lappi in comparison with Seb Ogier?
They drove the same car for full season and Ogier was faster except in Sweden and Finland, the rallies with nature of roads that suit Lappi so good.

What do you need to be a factory driver?
The complete package is needed with pure speed on super fast gravel rallies in the first place. If you are fast on tarmac rallies, these days you won't get the seat as it was in the past when there was tarmac or gravel specialists. Today you must have all the parts in yourself and I must admit that lots of new guys learned/advanced their skills practicing on Play Station.

Lappi has all the parts needed to be the future champion but sometimes he has some confidence problems like it was in the Citroen days when his team mate Ogier beat him from tally to rally.

Next season they will share the 3rd car from rally to rally and they won't battle each other so that could be good for Lappi. But there are some other super fast young new drivers and he must prove himself again if he wants to keep that Toyota works seat.
