Some time ago, I had the initiative to talk about the Dragon Ball franchise movies or in any case, those that for me in some way or another had a significant impact on me when I was much younger, and after concluding that process, I mentioned that I would like to take or replicate that process again but with another franchise of my liking, so I gave myself the task of doing the same in particular, but in this case with another franchise of my childhood and I mean the franchise of the zodiac knights or Saint Seiya. There are many aspects for which this series, even today I liked a lot either by the level of design and variety of armor and what they represent, the system of power based on the cosmos and of course the fights accompanied by a very but very good soundtraks, of course certainly like any series has some inconsistencies and the author did not take very good decisions with the course of this same, However, I will take the task to talk about all the movies of this franchise, more than anything for the nostalgic factor and besides that, to be as transparent as possible and give my final recommendation, in addition to this it is worth mentioning that all the events that are shown in all his films, are not canonical, ie not part of the original plot.

There really are not so many films linked to this franchise to tell the truth are very few, but each one in my opinion has a significant weight and I would like to show in each of them its relevance, but also try to be as fair as possible and expose if they falter in certain aspects, and what better way to start this new journey, that bringing you their first film, so without further ado this time I bring you The Zodiac Knights and the reincarnation of Ellis.

Hace un tiempo atrás, tuve la iniciativa de hablar de las películas de la franquicia de Dragon Ball o en dado caso, aquellas que para mí de alguna u otra forma tuvieron un impacto significativo en mi cuando era mucho mas joven, y después de concluir ese proceso, mencione que me gustaría tomar o replicar nuevamente dicho proceso pero con otra franquicia de mi agrado, así que me di a la tarea de hacer eso mismo en particular, pero en este caso con otra franquicia de mi infancia y me refiero a la franquicia de los caballeros del zodiaco o Saint Seiya. Hay muchos aspectos por los cuales esta serie, incluso en la actualidad me gustaron mucho ya sea por el nivel de diseño y variedad de las armaduras y lo que representan, el sistema del poder basado en el cosmos y claro la peleas acompañadas de unos soundtraks muy pero muy buenos, claro ciertamente como toda serie tiene algunas inconsistencias y el autor no tomo muy buenas decisiones con el rumbo de esta misma, sin embargo me tomare la tarea de halar de todas las películas de esta franquicia, más que nada por el factor nostálgico y además de ello, ser lo más trasparente posible y dar mi recomendación final, además de esto cabe mencionar que todos los acontecimientos que se muestran en todas sus películas, no son canonícas, es decir no forman parte de la trama original.

Realmente no son tantas películas vinculadas a esta franquicia a de decir verdad son muy pocas, pero cada una a mi parecer tiene un peso significativo y me gustaría mostrar en cada una de ellas su relevancia, pero también intentar ser lo más justo posible y exponer si flaquean en ciertos aspectos, y que mejor forma de dar inicio a este nuevo viaje, que trayéndoles su primera película, así que sin mas preámbulo esta vez les traigo Los caballeros del zodiaco y la reencarnación de Ellis.

The Knights of the Zodiac and the reincarnation of Ellis, goddess of war in Spanish America or as it is known colloquially in Japan as Saint Seiya: Jashin Eris and translated in that language Saint Seiya: Evil Goddess Eris, is considered as the first film of the franchise, being this released on July 18, 1987.

Counting with the direction of Kozo Morishita and the script by Yoshiyuki Suga and music by Seiji Yokoyama, the animation studio in charge is Toei animation.

Los caballeros del zodiaco y la reencarnación de Ellis, diosa de la guerra en Hispanoamérica o como se le conoce coloquialmente en Japón como, Saint Seiya: Jashin Eris y traducido ya en dicho idioma Saint Seiya : Diosa maligna Eris, viene siendo considerada como la primera película de dicha franquicia, siendo esta estrenada el 18 de julio de 1987.

Contando con la dirección de Kozo Morishita y el guion por parte de Yoshiyuki Suga y la música de Seiji Yokoyama, el estudio de animación encargado es Toei animation.

Synopsis / Sinopsis

The plot begins with our bronze saints spending time in an orphanage, after an incident that Hyoga (swan knight) avoided, as the plot unfolds and in a special situation between Hyoga and Eri (the caretaker of the orphanage) they see a shooting star and they make a wish, Eris, goddess of discord, takes advantage of this girl's wish to take control of her body, then kidnap Saori (reincarnation of Athena) and is faced with the initiative of draining her vital energy with the golden apple, to be able to resurrect in this world and it will depend on the saints of Athena to go to her rescue and stop Eris at all costs.

La trama comienza con nuestros santos de bronce pasando el tiempo en un orfanato, después de un incidente que Hyoga (caballero del cisne) evito, a medida de que se desenlaza la trama y en una situación especial entre Hyoga y Eri (la cuidado de dicho orfanato) ven una estrella fugaz y estos piden un deseo, ahondado a esto Eris diosa de la discordia se aprovecha del deseo de esta chica para tomar control de su cuerpo, luego raptar a Saori (reencarnación de Atenea) y se ve ante la iniciativa de drenar su energía vital con la manzana dorada, para poder resucitar en este mundo y dependerá de los santos de Atenea ir en su rescate y detener a Eris a toda costa.

Personal opinion / Opinión personal

One of the various aspects that I like about the Saint Seiya franchise, is how at the mythological level is played a lot by meddling characters of such Greek mythology in this case, or others in the series or in this particular case the film, here for example we see the presentation of Eris, goddess of discord, which wants to use the energy of Saoria Kido (the reincarnation of the goddess of wisdom and war Athena) to be able to be reborn and modify the world at will, it is certainly a very simple plot as far as it goes but despite that the film is certainly quite entertaining and also has something that I like a lot and that is that there are no subplots present that make the film vary, or a very high comedy relief tone, and if certainly at the beginning of the film this comedy factor is noted with the facial and body expressions so common of this type of content in its time, since it is a film of the 80's era, that is to say a retro movie and in my opinion I feel that it has aged well within what fits, that accompanied by a varied and quite good soundtracks and clearly the fights, but I'll talk about everything a little in relation to these details at the time, when I break down the film part by part starting with the animation.

The animation in this section meets a factor at most acceptable, it is not an animation so remarkable but I understand that by the standards of its time was something more than good, however I do not say that this bad is not so, I really liked how they played with the shades of colors when using the skills in combat, the color of the cosmos of each character in battle as well, and other elements also linked to Eris and Saori, you can also notice a very neat work in that sense at the level of coloring and movement, as well as the use of very vivid color games when accompanied with explosions or the use of skills, in this section I felt it more than acceptable the truth and I did not find it uncomfortable or mediocre, it is acceptable but it does not stand out in an abysmal or so significant way.

In the section of the plot, as I mentioned previously is quite simple in many ways, and really do not have to be complex as long as it is entertaining and in this case it certainly is, although its duration is relatively short with a time of 45 minutes at most plus credits, certainly focus entirely on the main plot and do not present or meddle with alternate elements or subplots something that I really like the truth, counting with good fights and techniques quite striking and unique something significant and remarkable of this franchise, that for me even to see the chapters of boy eh even now seem to me completely great, of course depending on the opponents, returning to the film this section is generally simple but good and remember that it is a retro movie, so maybe you see certain elements somewhat exaggerated when you have moments of comedy the very few that there. Although it should be noted that there is a pattern that will be repeated a lot and not only here in this movie if not in my next installments, which will be in which a malevolent or stronger figure abducts or takes possession of Athena and her saints must help her, which could be somewhat boring at best in this part.

In relation to the music and I think this is a point that I will repeat most likely in the other upcoming films that I will review, and is that the music in my opinion, the sountracks and everything that is involved in this section for me is great is beautiful, of course some shades more than others but in general I have no complaints at this point really, also having a very good atmosphere in which certainly predominates scenarios in outdoor mountains with touches bounding the Greek temples obviously, although in some fights is abused a bit of brightness alterations, and perhaps this can get to certainly uncomfortable, but out of this is acceptable. And this is the end of the first review of this franchise that I repeat, they will be short movies, there are not so many at most 6 and I will talk about all of them giving them the space they deserve, as always thank you for coming and reading this far and until next time.

Uno de los varios aspectos que me gusta de la franquicia de Saint Seiya, es como a nivel mitológico se juega mucho al inmiscuir personajes de dicha mitología griegas en este caso, u otras en la serie o en este caso en particular la película, aquí por ejemplo se ve la presentación de Eris, diosa de la discordia, la cual quiere usar la energía de Saoria Kido (la reencarnación de la diosa de la sabiduría y la guerra Atenea) para poder renacer y modificar el mundo a su voluntad, ciertamente es una trama muy simple dentro de lo que cabe pero a pesar de eso la película ciertamente, es bastante entretenida y tiene algo también que me gusta bastante y es que no hay subtramas presentes que haga que la película varié, o se presente un tono de alivio de comedia muy elevado, y si ciertamente al comienzo de la película se nota este factor de comedia con las expresiones faciales y corporales tan comunes de este tipo de contenido en su época, ya que viene siendo una película de la era de los 80, es decir una película retro y a mi parecer siento que ha envejecido bien dentro de lo que cabe, eso acompañado de unos soundtracks variados y bastante buenos y claramente los combates, pero ya hablaré de todo un poco con relación a estos detalles a su momento, cuando desglose la película parte por parte comenzando con la animación.

La animación en este apartado cumple un factor a lo mucho aceptable, no es una animación tan destacable pero entiendo que para los estándares de su época era algo más que bueno, sin embargo no digo que este mal tampoco es así, me gusto mucho como jugaron con los matices de colores al usar las habilidades en combate, el color del cosmos de cada personaje en batalla también, y otros elementos ligados también a Eris y Saori, se nota también un trabajo muy pulcro en ese sentido a nivel de coloración y movimiento, así como el uso de juegos de colores muy vivaces cuando se acompañan con las explosiones o el uso de habilidades, en este apartado lo sentí mas que aceptable la verdad y no me resulto incomodo o mediocre, está bien es aceptable pero no destaca de una manera abismal o tan significativa.

En el apartado de la trama, como ya mencione con anterioridad es bastante simple dentro de lo que cabe en muchos sentidos, y realmente no tienen que ser compleja con tal de que sea entretenida y en este caso lo es ciertamente, a pesar de que su duración sea relativamente corta contando con un tiempo de 45 minutos a lo mucho más los créditos, ciertamente se enfocan en su totalidad en la trama principal y no presentan o inmiscuyen elementos alternos o subtramas algo que me gusta mucho la verdad, contando con buenos combates y técnicas bastante llamativas y únicas algo significativo y destacable de esta franquicia, que para mi incluso al ver los capítulos de chico eh inclusive ahora me parecen completamente geniales, claro dependiendo de los contrincantes, volviendo a la película este apartado es en general simple pero bueno y recordemos que es una película retro, así que quizás se vean ciertos elementos algo exagerados cuando se tiene momentos de comedia los muy pocos que ahí. Aunque cabe destacar que hay un patrón que se repetirá mucho y no solo aquí en esta pelicula si no en mis próximas entregas, el cual será en el que una figura malévola o mas fuerte rapta o toma posesión de atenea y sus santos deben ayudarla, lo cual podría ser un tanto aburrida a lo mucho en este parte.

Con relación a la música y creo que este es un punto que repetiré lo mas probable en las otras películas próximas que reseñare, y es que la música a mi parecer, los sountracks y todo lo que este inmiscuido en este apartado para mi es genial es precioso, claro unas tonalidades más que otras pero en general no tengo ninguna queja en este punto realmente, contando también con una ambientación muy buena en la que predomina ciertamente escenarios en montañas al aire libre con toques acotando a los templos griegos obviamente, aunque en algunas peleas se abusa un poco de las alteraciones de brillos, y quizás esto pueda llegar a incomodar ciertamente, pero fuera de esto es aceptable. Y con esto culmina la primera reseña de esta franquicia que repito, serán películas cortas no tiene tantas a lo mucho 6 y hablare de todas ellas dándole el espacio que se merecen, como siempre gracias por llegar y leer hasta aquí y hasta la próxima.
