Troy: Inspired by the Homeric poem (2004) Review [Eng - Esp]

I haven't been here for a while, after the marathon of analysis I did about Dragon Ball movies, I decided to stay away a little bit from the movie or series reviews, to not oversaturate myself so much and the truth is that I needed it, don't misunderstand me I like what I did and the effort I put in each review, if it hadn't been like that I wouldn't have done it in the first place, but if I get mentally exhausted hahahahahah but at this point I could say that I am already better and in my personal life I have certain things in order for now and that means free time, so in this case I will go a little out of the conventional in anime, to bring you a classic movie that in my opinion aged very well and I really do not get tired of seeing either for their battles, phrases and epic moments as the film that I will bring you today is a film that is based on the epic classic poem of Homer which is the Iliad.

And what better way to return to make reviews that integrating me again with a classic film and with a load and line, although not entirely accurate to the poem which is inspired and is mentioned if it shares certain elements that if they are in the poem but with several modifications, I will talk about this later as usual and for a change it is good to return to this community talking about a film that could say that this is out of my comfort zone, not because I do not enjoy or do not like it, on the contrary if not because I focus on providing more my reviews to animated content, except for some very few films that have been the opposite so without further ado this time I bring you Troy.

Tenía un buen tiempo que no pasaba por estos lares, después de el maratón de análisis que hice sobre pelis de Dragon Ball, decidí alejarme un poco de las reseñas a películas o series, para no sobresaturarme tanto y la verdad es que lo necesitaba, no me mal interpreten me gusto lo que hice y el empeño que les coloque a cada reseña, si no hubiera sido así no lo hubiera hecho en primer lugar, pero si me agoto mentalmente jajajaj pero a estas alturas podría llegar a decir que ya estoy mejor y en mi vida personal tengo ciertas cosas en orden por ahora y eso significa tiempo libre, así que en este caso me saldré un poco de lo convencional en animes, para traerles una película clásica que a mi parecer envejeció muy bien y realmente no me canso de ver ya sea por sus batallas, frases y momentos épicos ya que la película que les traeré el día de hoy es una película que está basada en el épico poema clásico de homero el cual es la Ilíada.

Y que mejor forma de volver a hacer reseñas que integrándome nuevamente con una película clásica y con una carga y lineamiento, aunque no del todo en su totalidad exacto al poema del cual está inspirado y se le hace mención si comparte ciertos elementos que si están en dicho poema pero con varias modificaciones, ya halare más adelante de esto como de costumbre y para variar es bueno volver a esta comunidad hablando de una película que podría decir que este fuera de mi zona de confort, no porque no la disfrute o no me guste, al contrario si no porque me enfoco en brindar más mis reseñas a contenidos animados, con excepción de algunas muy pocas películas que han sido lo contrario así que sin mas preámbulo esta vez les traigo a Troya.

Troy is considered an American-British film, based on the great Greek Homeric poem called the Iliad with aspects of continuity linked to the odyssey of the same author and the Aeneid of the Roman poet Virgil, basically a film linked to several elements of literary continuity, certainly modified or altered and not being of its total and accurate representation in several of its statutes, by in this case the screenwriters or the director of the film. The film was directed by Wolfgang Petersen and starred Brad Pitt playing the semi god Achilles, such film was released in 2004.

Troya es considerada una película estado unidense – británica, basada en el gran poema homérico griego llamado la Ilíada junto aspectos de continuidad ligados a la odisea del mismo autor y la Eneida del poeta romano Virgilio, básicamente una película ligada a varios elementos de continuidad literarios, ciertamente modificados o alterados y no siendo de su total y exacta representación en varios de sus estatutos, por en este caso los guionistas o el director de la película. La película se dirigió por Wolfgang Petersen y fue protagonizada por Brad Pitt interpretando al semi dios Aquiles, tal película fue estrenada el 2004.

Synopsis / Sinopsis

The events that are presented in the film are linked to two events that denote a major significant change in what ends up being the war in Troy, the first is the megalomania and arrogance of Agamemnon the absolute king in the hierarchy of Greece who wants to consume and monopolize everything in its path, and in second aspect and the most important is the beginning of a large-scale conflict between Greeks and Trojans, due to an infidelity between Paris one of the princes of Troy and Helen wife of Menelaus king of the Spartans and it is from this type of actions, which will expose something worse and bigger spilling much blood and becoming what we know.

Los acontecimientos que se presentan en la película están ligados a dos sucesos que denotaran un gran cambio significativo en lo que termina siendo la guerra en Troya, el primero es la megalomanía y arrogancia de Agamenón el rey absoluto en la jerarquía de Grecia que desea consumir y monopolizar todo a su paso, y en segundo aspecto y el más importante es el inicio de un conflicto a gran escala entre griegos y troyanos, debido a una infidelidad entre París uno de los príncipes de Troya y Elena esposa de Menelao rey de los espartanos y es a partir de este tipo de acciones, que se expondrá algo peor y mas grande derramándose mucha sangre y convirtiéndose en lo que conocemos.

Personal opinion / Opinión personal

Although this film has certain inconsistencies with the original poem and lacks certain elements linked to the poem, it does show the most outstanding and important aspects linked to the war in Troy, or the poem of the Iliad and especially the intentions of Achilles to participate in an event as big as this, certainly the screenwriters of the film took creative liberties to leave out, or include certain elements making the plot in their opinion a little more dynamic and romance in this case heterosexual, and I understand if some people this might bother them, and I mean those who have read the book and see certain inconsistencies but personally it does not bother me in its entirety, since it is certainly recreating as close as possible to events of mythological and literary characteristics, it does not have to be exactly to the letter in every sense that the film follows such continuity, and this aspect can be seen reflected in several films that are based on scenarios or literary plots very recognized and modify some elements to personal convenience such as Arthurian legends or films about Sun Wukong, although in this case to a large extent if the rise and fall of Achilles in the war is followed although this also takes many interpretations at the convenience of the authors, however in this case the most common version is presented which is his fall by his heel and his incredible variety as a warrior.

It should be noted that there are other elements certainly striking as for example the contrast between Hector the strongest warrior of Troy and Achilles, there is a great difference between their fighting styles, philosophies of life and way of acting a chemistry that subtly becomes stronger as the film progresses, in addition to that accompanied by good choreography of battles such as those of Hector against Achilles, or Paris (Hector's brother) against Menelaus (king of Sparta) or Ajax against Hector and the battles together with the soldiers, for an old movie in my opinion it has very good entertainment elements, but I feel that I would have liked to go deeper into other characters such as Odysseus or see more depth in the kings mainly Agamemnon and Priam and not just shown as an egocentric figure, I know that by nature the viewer will be shown this type of strong characteristics of the characters, especially of this king, making a great contrast with Priam in many ways, to understand his position, but I feel that it could have worked better in my opinion, the movie although certainly entertaining lacks elements such as the participation and impact of the gods in the battle, and that in this case is not visualized as in the book being a battle that lasts 10 years, which as I mentioned before is fine if there are certain elements that do not want to incorporate, but I feel that they would have been given more weight if they were handled in a better way.

In spite of everything, if the feature film fulfills the most important aspects as I mentioned before, although here Patroclus, a character so important for this poem as well as for Achilles, is not presented in such a romantic way as in the poem, since it seems that certain actions in the poem indicated or stipulated that they were lovers, here we see a somewhat different vision and an estimation between the two as brothers, in my opinion I do not dislike it, if the trigger that drives Achilles to fight seriously is incorporated or presented, another aspect linked to Achilles is the humanization of the character, he is very self-confident and arrogant, that the anger so changeable will drive him later to reconsider his actions with everything that happened with Hector and Patroclus or his warriors, is something that gives him a good weight and to see how to get to this and appease his anger, Hector's father had to intervene, is something that really as a character takes a lot of weight on both sides.

Despite being a film of 2004 and for such an era, it enjoys good elements linked to good choreography, weapons or props and a good performance by the actors, some more than others certainly is a film that I recommend and makes a decent presentation at best of such important literary and mythological characters, as they come to be these, because although Troy did exist, there is a lot of doubt if most of these characters existed, curiously this is still being debated to date, I think this is basically a story of which Homer was strongly influenced in some moments of his life, perhaps by witnessing or knowing about war events in that place and recreate this, but who knows that is left to the interpretation of anyone. And with this ends this review today, I hope you liked it and give a chance to the movie that certainly although it is not the best if it is entertaining and also has good elements although it falters a bit in sometimes a little boring or redundant scenarios, so thanks for coming and reading this far, and until next time.

A pesar de que esta película tenga ciertas inconsistencias con el poema original y carezca de ciertos elementos ligados a dicho poema, si muestra los aspectos mas sobresalientes eh importantes ligados a la guerra en Troya, o el poema de la Ilíada y sobre todo las intenciones de Aquiles al participar en un evento tan grande como este, ciertamente los guionistas de la película se tomaron las libertades creativas para dejar de lado, o incluir ciertos elementos haciendo la trama a su parecer un poco más dinámica y al romance en este caso heterosexual, y entiendo si algunas personas esto quizás les llegue a molestar, y me refiero aquellas que se han leído el libro y vean ciertas inconsistencias pero en lo personal a mi no me molesta en su totalidad, ya que se está recreando ciertamente lo más cercano posible a sucesos de características mitológicas y literarias, no tiene que ser exactamente al pie de la letra en todo sentido que la película siga tal continuidad, y este aspecto podemos verlo reflejado en varias películas que se basan en escenarios o tramas literarias muy reconocidas y modifican algunos elementos a conveniencias personales como por ejemplo leyendas artúricas o películas sobre Sun Wukong, aunque en este caso en gran medida si se sigue el auge y la caída de Aquiles en la guerra aunque esto toma también muchas interpretaciones a conveniencia de los autores, sin embargo en este caso se presenta la versión mas común la cual es su caída por su talón y su variedad increíble como guerrero.

Cabe destacar que hay otros elementos ciertamente llamativas como por ejemplo el contraste entre Héctor el guerrero más fuerte de Troya y Aquiles, hay una gran diferencia entre sus estilos de lucha, filosofías de vida y forma de actuar una química que sutilmente cobra más fuerza a medida de que la película avanza, además de eso acompañado de buenas coreografías de batallas como las de Héctor contra Aquiles, o Paris (hermano de Héctor) contra Menelao (rey de Esparta) o Ajax contra Héctor y las batallas en conjunto con los soldados, para ser una película antigua a mi parecer goza de elementos de entretenimiento muy buenos, pero siento que me hubiera gustado que profundizaran mas en otros personajes como por ejemplo Odiseo o se viera más profundidad en los reyes principalmente Agamenón y Príamo y no solo se mostrara como una figura egocéntrica, avariciosa o déspota, es decir se que por naturaleza al espectador se mostrara este tipo de c características tan fuertes de los personajes en especial de este rey haciendo un gran contraste con Príamo en muchos sentidos, para dar a entender su postura, pero siento que se pudo trabajar mejor a mi parecer, la película aunque ciertamente es entretenida carece de elementos como la participación eh impacto de los dioses en la batalla, y que en este caso no se visualiza como en el libro al ser una batalla que dura 10 años, lo cual como mencione antes esta bien si hay ciertos elementos que no se quieren incorporar, pero siento que se les hubiera dado más peso si se manejaran de una mejor manera.

A pesar de todo, si cumple el largometraje en los aspectos más resaltantes como mencione antes, aunque aquí a Patroclo un personaje tan importante para este poema así como para Aquiles, no se le presente de una forma tan romántica como en el poema, ya que al parecer ciertas acciones en el poema llegaban a indicar o se estipulaba que estos eran amantes, aquí se ve una visión algo diferente y una estimación entre ambos como hermanos a mi parecer no me disgusta, si se incorpora o se presenta el detonante que orilla a Aquiles a luchar seriamente, otro aspecto ligado Aquiles es la humanización del personaje, este de por sí es muy seguro de sí y arrogante, que la cólera tan cambiante lo orillara después a recapacitar luego sus acciones con todo lo ocurrido con Héctor y Patroclo o sus guerreros, es algo que para le da un buen peso y ver como para llegar a esto y aplacar su ira, tuviese que intervenir el padre de Héctor, es algo que realmente como personaje cobra mucho peso en ambas partes.

A pesar de ser una película del 2004 y para tal época, se disfruta de buenos elementos ligados a buenas coreografías, armas o utilería y una buena interpretación por parte de los actores, unos más que otros ciertamente es una película que recomiendo y hace una presentación a lo mucho decente de tales personajes literarios y mitológicos importantes, como los vienen siendo estos, porque si aunque Troya si existió se tiene en mucha duda si la mayoría de estos personajes existieron, curiosamente aun se sigue debatiendo esto hasta la fecha yo creo que esto es básicamente una historia de la cual homero se vio fuertemente influenciado en algunos momentos de su vida, por quizás presenciar o saber sobre acontecimientos bélicos en dicho lugar y recreo esto, pero quien sabe eso queda a la interpretación de cualquiera. Y con esto termina esta reseña del día de hoy, espero haya sido de su agrado y le den una oportunidad a la película que ciertamente aunque no es la mejor si es entretenida y también tiene buenos elementos aunque flaquee un poco en escenarios a veces un poco aburridos o redundantes, así que gracias por llegar y leer hasta aquí, y hasta la próxima.
