Whiplash: Obsession and excessive dedication 2014 (Review) [Eng - Esp]
Lately the Youtube algorithm in recent days, has suggested me clicks and shorts of the film of which I will talk today, which I saw a long time ago, but nevertheless with all that and at this point I can say that it has been a film, which has left me shocked and above all quite pleased and in turn intrigued as it exposes many nuances focused, not only in the musical environment but also in the individual development of our protagonist and the antagonist so to speak of this film, I mean nothing more and nothing less than the film Whiplash, a work which has had a good reception in the media and has left the critics with a fairly broad opinion, and solid to the behaviors shown by the protagonist in question and the conductor, and personally I would also like to give my opinion in general and what I liked the most here.
Certainly there are several things that I would like to comment on both the narrative and the production of this film, certainly much of the things that are consolidated as a structure set in everything that conforms, is linked to the field of music, starting with the dreams and aspirations of our protagonist (Andrew) to want to give the best of himself, however things will not go as planned or will be so easy because it is introduced, a complex and cynical character which is the director of the orchestra and trainer of the same which has a very high reputation, due to its high expectations, these things linked to the position so hard and even cruel will give a tremendous shock in our protagonist, such aspects linked to emotions, duty, overcoming, inadequacy and even dehumanized treatment will touch later and halare to all this in due course, so ladies and gentlemen this time I bring you Whiplash.
Últimamente el algoritmo de Youtube en estos últimos días, me ah sugerido clicks y cortos de la película de la cual les hablare el día de hoy, la cual vi hace un largo tiempo atrás, pero sin embargo con todo eso y a estas alturas puedo llegar a decir que ha sido una película, que me ha dejado impactado y sobre todo bastante complacido y a su vez intrigado ya que expone muchos matices enfocados, no solo en el entorno musical si no también en el desenvolvimiento individual de nuestro protagonista y el antagonista por así decirlo de esta película, así es me refiero nada más y nada menos de la película de Whiplash, una obra la cual ha tenido una buena recepción en los medios y ah dejado a la critica con una opinión bastante amplia, y solida ante las conductas que muestra el protagonista en cuestión y el director de orquesta, y en lo personal también me gustaría dar mi opinión en general y que es lo más me gusto aquí.
Ciertamente hay varias cosas de las cuales me gustaría comentar tanto en la narrativa como en la producción de este film, ciertamente gran parte de las cosas que se consolidan como una estructura ambientada en todo lo que se conforma, está ligado al ámbito de la musical, comenzando con los sueños y aspiraciones de nuestro protagonista (Andrew) al querer dar lo mejor de sí, sin embargo las cosas no saldrán como lo planea o serán tan fáciles porque se introduce, un personaje complejo y cínico el cual es el director de la orquesta y preparador de la misma la cual tiene una reputación muy alta, debido a sus altas expectativas, estas cosas vinculadas con la posición tan dura y hasta cruel dará un choque tremendo en nuestro protagonista, tales aspectos vinculados a las emociones, el deber, la superación, la insuficiencia y el trato hasta deshumanizado tocare más adelante y halare a de todo esto a su momento, así que damas y caballeros esta vez les traigo Whiplash.

Whiplash comes being considered an American music-themed film specializing in drama of 2014, written and directed by Damien Chazelle, premiering in competition in the United States in the 2014 drama category as the opening of the Sundae Film Festival on January 16, 2014.
In its full theatrical release on October 10 of the same year in question, taking the lead role of Andrew is played by Miles Teller, and that of Terence Fletcher the conductor is played by J. K Simmons.

En su totalidad en los cines de estreno el 10 de Octubre de ese mismo año en cuestión, tomando el rol protagónico de Andrew lo lleva a cabo Miles Teller, y el de Terence Fletcher el director de orquesta es llevado a cabo por J. K Simmons.

The plot focuses on the life of a young drummer named Andrew Neiman, who aspires to become a great drummer recognized at some point in his life, Andrew's life changes when he enters one of the best music schools in all of New York, Andrew's life changes when he enters one of the best music schools in all of New York, where the director Terence Fletcher, who has a more than recognized career and before the public does more than a good job directing his musicians, will make Neiman's life change drastically in many ways, either for better or for worse and it is here where the life of our protagonist will change drastically.
La trama se enfoca en la vida de un joven baterista llamado Andrew Neiman, el cual aspira en convertirse en un gran baterista reconocido en algún momento de su vida, la vida de Andrew cambia cuando ingresa a una de las mejores escuelas de música en toda New York, en la cual el director de dicho lugar Terence Fletcher el cual tiene una carrera más que reconocida y ante el público hace más que un buen trabajo dirigiendo sus músicos, este hará que la vida de Neiman cambien drásticamente de muchísimas maneras, ya sea para bien como para mal y es aquí donde la vida de nuestro protagonista cambiara drásticamente.

There are many things worth mentioning in this film certainly, and I would like to go exploring and touching on those issues little by little, you will see one of the aspects that I personally have found most striking in all this is the mental, emotional and psychological factor that we can see through Andrew and growth or rather development, which has as a character from the beginning throughout the film until the end, we can gradually notice such a significant change driven certainly by the excessive and exaggerated demands of his bandleader Terence Fletccher. From the beginning of the film we are shown how Andrew aspires to become a great drummer in a jazz orchestra and be someone recognized, but that dream is gradually frustrated with the nature and methods of Fletcher, and his demands will take him to the limit in many ways either verbally and psychology and not only to him, this is extrapolated in every way to the other members of the band, but in him you notice a greater effort or focus as he shows a greater dedication, something that will drive him to sacrifice many things in order to achieve it.
As I mentioned before the mental and emotional aspect in this film could be said to be something strong, in many scenes we can witness events of very high tension and excessive demands, these musicians are under overwhelming stress, and it is not for less considering the reputation that is in between and more with this kind of director, since at the end of the day the orchestra represents him and certainly, he would be affected if something happened to him in a performance before the public with his band when composing something, so his standards go up more and more. Fletcher as a character I like a lot in its complexity and the way he does things but I will not dig so much into that because I do not want to spoil more than the account, to culminate this section I want to mention that the sacrifice and transformation, which takes Andrew with all this for better or worse I will leave it to his interpretation is beautiful because there is no easy way, in these things or shortcuts only hard work and more when reality hits that hard.
Regarding the setting I can say that everything is obviously linked and directed in the field or musical spectrum, especially in the aspect of the handling of the drum instrument and linked to this the aspirations and dreams of our protagonist, the use of lights and most of the time the dark tones make it stand out for me very well considering as the plot unfolds, as some things are changing significantly, besides that certainly the accompaniment and the use of musical instruments, but I'll talk a little more about this later.
Regarding the plot, it is certainly full of emotions and very tense situations, it is a constant up and down, sometimes denoting moments of impulsiveness and also with moments of helplessness, sadness, disappointment, happiness, anger and demotivation, each and every one of these emotions presented in an interesting way and with great force before the viewer depending on the moment that deserves it, each and every one of these things we can see through Andrew in order to achieve his dream, but certainly Fletcher will not make it easy and will give him a very strong reality check many times, the truth is that the presence of Fletcher in many ways will force Andrew to make decisions, more and more exaggerated and excessive taking him to the point of obsession and dedication indirectly and this is much better at the end, but everyone will have the interpretation that best suits him.
The musical section is beautiful, really here the jazz genre is fully enjoyed in several ways, certainly showing short demonstrations some more than others, although the use of drums obviously covers more weight here, which is not bad because through this we can see the overall performance of the other musicians and drummers as such, the truth is that here personally I have no complaints and I think it has certainly done a great job. And with this ends today's review, the truth is that it is a very loaded movie that is worth seeing even at this point and I never get bored to see those scenes that now the Youtube algorithm, recommends me hahaha, I hope the reading has been to your liking and as always thank you for reading and get here without more to say until next time.
Hay muchas cosas de las cuales vale la pena mencionar en este film ciertamente, y me gustaría ir explorando y tocando esos temas de a poco, verán uno de los aspectos que en lo personal me ah parecido mas llamativo en todo esto es el factor mental, emocional y psicológico que podemos ver a través de Andrew y el crecimiento o mejor dicho desarrollo, que tiene como personaje desde el comienzo a lo largo de la película hasta el final, podemos notar de manera paulatina un cambio tan significativo impulsado ciertamente por las desmedidas y exageradas exigencias de su director de orquesta Terence Fletccher. Desde un comienzo en la película se nos muestra como Andrew aspira convertirse en un gran baterista en una orquesta de jazz y ser alguien reconocido, pero ese sueño se ve de a poco frustrado con la naturaleza y métodos de Fletcher, y sus demandas lo llevaran al límite de muchas formas ya sea de manera verbal y psicología y no solo a él, esto se ve extrapolado en todos los sentidos a los demás integrantes de la banda, pero en él se nota un esfuerzo o enfoque mayor ya que el muestra una mayor dedicación, algo que lo impulsara a sacrificar, muchas cosas con tal de conseguirlo.
Como mencione anteriormente el aspecto mental y emocional en esta película se podría llegar a decir que es algo fuerte, en muchas escenas podemos presenciar eventos de muy alta tensión y exigencias tan desmedidas, estos músicos se encuentran bajo un estrés abrumador, y no es para menos considerando la reputación que se tiene de por medio y mas con esta clase de director, ya que al final de cuentas la orquesta la representa a él y ciertamente, se vería afectado si algo le pasara en una función ante el público con su banda al componer algo, así que sus estándares suben mas y mas. Fletcher como personaje me gusta mucho en su complejidad y la forma en cómo efectúa las cosas pero no indagare tanto en eso ya que no quiero spoilear mas de la cuenta, para culminar este apartado quiero mencionar que el sacrificio y la transformación, que toma Andrew con todo esto para bien o mal se los dejare a su interpretación es hermosa ya que no hay camino fácil, en estas cosas o atajos solo trabajo duro y más cuando la realidad golpea así de duro.
Respecto a la ambientación puedo llegar a decir que todo obviamente esta vinculado y dirigido en el ámbito o espectro musical, en especial en el aspecto del manejo del instrumento de la batería y ligado a esto las aspiraciones y sueños de nuestro protagonista, el uso de las luces y en la mayoría de las veces las tonalidades oscuras hacen que para mi resalte muy bien considerando a medida de que se desenvuelve la trama, como algunas cosas van cambiando significativamente, además de eso ciertamente el acompañamiento y el uso de los instrumentos musicales, pero hablare un poco mas de esto más adelante.
Respeto a la trama, ciertamente está cargada de emociones y situaciones muy tensas es un constante sube y baja, a veces denotando momentos de impulsividad y también con momentos de impotencia, tristeza, decepción, felicidad, ira y desmotivación toda y cada una de estas emociones presentadas de una manera interesante y con mucha fuerza ante el espectador dependiendo del momento que lo amerite, toda y cada una de estas cosas las podemos ver a través de Andrew con tal de conseguir su sueño, pero ciertamente Fletcher no se lo hará para nada fácil y le dará un golpe de realidad muy fuerte muchas veces, la verdad es que la presencia de Fletcher en muchos sentidos orillara a Andrew a tomar decisiones, cada vez mas exageradas y desmedidas llevándolo al punto de la obsesión y dedicación de manera indirecta y esto se nota mucho mejor al final, pero cada uno tendrá la interpretación que más le convenga.
El apartado musical es hermoso, realmente aquí el género del jazz se disfruta plenamente en varios sentidos, ciertamente mostrando demostraciones cortas unas más que otras, aunque el uso de la batería obviamente cubre más peso por aquí, lo cual no está mal ya que a través de esto podemos ver el desempeño en general de los otros músicos y el de los bateristas como tal, la verdad es que aquí en lo personal no tengo ningún tipo de quejas y creo que se ha hecho un gran trabajo ciertamente. Y con esto termina la reseña del día de hoy, la verdad es que es una película muy cargada que vale la pena ver incluso a estas alturas y no me aburro nunca de ver esas escenas que ahora el algoritmo de Youtube, me recomienda jajaja, espero la lectura haya sido de su agrado y como siempre gracias por leer y llegar hasta aquí sin más que decir hasta la próxima.
I liked this movie a lot and the protagonist changes as he is subjected to the harsh demands of the teacher, there are scenes that are quite strong emotionally. Today some association of the crystal generation would come out to complain that the film is an apology for abuse, or maybe not, since the protagonist is a man, they only come out to scream on social networks when it is about a woman or an ethnic minority in the United States. If the protagonist were a girl, they would say that it is a sishetero movie that exalts toxic machismo and all that nonsense that kids say nowadays.
More than what is currently lived with this new generation of glass so to speak and their interpretation to films or series of a stronger psychological nature, this film is one of my favorites for as you said or mentioned in the review before the change of Neiman to the demands of Fletcher, I do not get tired of watching it, greetings.
Esta película y Cisne negro son grandes historias sobre esa obsesión por la perfección artística. Whiplash es una de mis películas favoritas de siempre, las actuaciones, la música, la historia, esa intesidad mental y emocional que mencionas, es una mezcla maravillosa y una película que te marca. Es más, cuando fui al cine a ver La La Land no había visto trailer, no sabía quienes actuaban, lo único que sabía es que el director era Demian Chazelle y eso fue suficiente para mí porque había amado Whiplash. Excelente pelicula Wiplash, de mis favoritas detodos los tiempos diría yo. Al igual que el protagonista, podría decirse que soy músico (no me considero uno como tal debido a ciertos motivos personales), entiendo lo que sufre el protagonista al querer complacer al profesor y a todos quienes lo rodean. Claro, nunca tuve profesores así de exigentes, pero igual siento la frustración del protagonista al no poder lograr su cometido para tiempo despues ir con todas las de ganar salir victorioso apesar de las malas señales.
Ciertamente pega de una forma diferente para cada persona y mas si te sientes identificado con eso en el ambito musical a traves de esta pelicula, y si esa sobre exigencia puede llegar a ser muy destrucctiva.
