AS AN ENGLISH NATIVE, WHY I CHOSE TO LEARN SPANISH?
Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the world. In fact, according to analysis by google, Spanish is the 4th most spoken language in the World. It is just after Mandarin and Hindi, which are far very difficult to learn.
El español es una de las lenguas más habladas del mundo. De hecho, según el análisis de google, el español es el cuarto idioma más hablado del mundo. Está justo después del mandarín y el hindi, que son muy difíciles de aprender.
I do not mean to say Spanish is easy to learn but compared to Mandarin and Hindi, I don't think the difficulty levels of Spanish are that high. I started learning Spanish in 2020, which was 2 years ago, but due to my inconsistency, I am presently not good at the language. Although, I was able to learn to the extent that I could read some Spanish blogs on Hive.
Now, let's look at some of the reasons or better said, advantages of taking Spanish as your other language.
No quiero decir que el español sea fácil de aprender, pero comparado con el mandarín y el hindi, no creo que los niveles de dificultad del español sean tan altos. Empecé a aprender español en 2020, hace 2 años, pero debido a mi inconsistencia, actualmente no soy bueno en el idioma. Aunque, pude aprender hasta el punto de poder leer algunos blogs en español en Hive.
Ahora, veamos algunas de las razones o mejor dicho, ventajas de tomar el español como tu otra lengua
BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH SPANISH PEOPlE ON HIVE
There are quite lots of Spanish communities here and knowing Spanish fluently in both writing and speaking would give you an edge in forming relationships with people. You simply are just taking the language barrier off you.
There are quite many spanish hivers would does not have much understanding of english very well. So, knowing spanish would help so much in communicating with them all!
CONSTRUYA RELACIONES CON LA GENTE ESPAÑOLA EN EL VIH
Hay bastantes comunidades españolas aquí y saber español con fluidez tanto escrito como hablado te daría una ventaja a la hora de entablar relaciones con la gente. Simplemente te quitas de encima la barrera del idioma.
Hay bastantes españoles que no entienden muy bien el inglés. Por lo tanto, saber español ayudaría mucho en la comunicación con todos ellos.
UNDERSTANDING SPANISH RELATED CONTENTS BETTER
I really don't like when I see Spanish content, more like video content and I cannot understand it and I so much want to leave a comment about it. It pains me so much because not understanding the language keeps me from engaging. I am pretty sure that @ksam can relate to it.
THE NUMBER OF COUNTRIES SPEAKING SPANISH
I was amazed when I found out that there are about 21 countries speaking Spanish. This is really amazing. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw this I can take a tour in any of these Spanish countries.
One of the places I have always admired visiting except Canada is Barcelona in Spain. Learning Spanish would help me to easily communicate with people when I get there, most especially build relationships.
ENTENDER MEJOR LOS CONTENIDOS RELACIONADOS CON EL ESPAÑOL
Realmente no me gusta cuando veo contenido en español, más bien en video y no puedo entenderlo y me dan tantas ganas de dejar un comentario al respecto. Me duele mucho porque no entender el idioma me impide participar. Estoy bastante seguro de que @ksam se siente identificado.
EL NÚMERO DE PAÍSES QUE HABLAN ESPAÑOL
Me sorprendí cuando descubrí que hay unos 21 países que hablan español. Esto es realmente sorprendente. Lo primero que me vino a la mente al ver esto es que puedo hacer un tour en cualquiera de estos países españoles.
Uno de los lugares que siempre he admirado visitar, excepto Canadá, es Barcelona, en España. Aprender español me ayudaría a comunicarme fácilmente con la gente cuando llegue allí, sobre todo a establecer relaciones.
THE JOB OPPORTUNITIES YOU ARE OPEN TO
For a language to be the number 4 most spoken language in the world means knowing the language can give you access to working in any of these countries so far you can speak and write fluently. This most especially is my main drive for learning spanish. I would love to visit Barcelona one day, I don't know how long but imagine getting a job there, most likely a remote job of course! this would be so nice and well fulfilled for me.
THE PRIDE IT GIVES
The fact that I can boast among my peer that I know another language that is different from the ones spoken in my country is fulfilling as well. It is something worth being proud of because learning a language fluently when you are not in the midst of people speaking that language is not something everyone can do. It takes more than learning to actually learn; it takes consistency, persistence and patience. One needs to show up everyday to actually get there! which is what I am doing.
LAS OPORTUNIDADES DE TRABAJO A LAS QUE ESTÁ ABIERTO
Que un idioma sea el número 4 de los más hablados en el mundo significa que saber el idioma puede darte acceso a trabajar en cualquiera de estos países hasta donde puedas hablar y escribir con fluidez. Este es especialmente mi principal impulso para aprender español. Me encantaría visitar Barcelona algún día, no sé cuánto tiempo, pero imagínate conseguir un trabajo allí, ¡muy probablemente un trabajo a distancia por supuesto! esto sería tan bonito y bien realizado para mí.
EL ORGULLO QUE DA
El hecho de poder presumir entre mis compañeros de saber otro idioma diferente a los que se hablan en mi país me llena también. Es algo de lo que merece la pena estar orgulloso porque aprender un idioma con fluidez cuando no estás en medio de gente que lo habla no es algo que todo el mundo pueda hacer. Se necesita algo más que aprender, se necesita constancia, persistencia y paciencia. Hay que presentarse todos los días para conseguirlo, que es lo que yo estoy haciendo.

Really good to see that you are learning spanish. I'm on this train too. Spanish can be easy at the beginning but gets really complicated. I really need a native speaker to improve at this point. I'm slowly giving up till when I can afford to pay for one.

It's a mobile application where your can learn a lot of languages.

I'm on my day 65 streak on doulingo as well, I will sure check your user name out, I go by the name Funshee.
To me I think Spanish is pretty easy to learn and doulingo app made it so simple and fun.
Learning of different language from inception, its a plus to you, because it give you high percentage and advantage over others,
Some of the possible possibilities are you can join the work force of that country, you can easily go on a voyage to that country, you can work on their embassy representing your country, the list is just endless the advantage that come with speaking of language from you base general language is endless.
But learning from here, will be a litte bit difficult, as you are not in the midst of peoople speaking it, one can easily learn something when he is surrounded by people speaking it, just in my case, i can speak hausa but i can't tell you how i learnt it,i grow and see myself speaking it, so not been around peoople that speak it is an issue.
It really a nice idea, and also a nice investment.

Well I've been seeing so many post that has Spanish translation and it's really so sad that I can't make a comment in Spanish, I will have to use my Google translate which is still okay but not fun compared to me writing the Spanish myself.

I met a Coursemate on Duolingo and we are learning the same language. I don't know why I picked that language of all languages to learn. Spanish is interesting and for the time, I have been learning the words, I love how it's being pronounced and when I watch movies with Spanish being spoken, I follow them too so I can understand how it is being pronounced.
