I planned on coming here to share a different topic this afternoon, but something happened that I really have to let you all know about. This incident reminded me of a post written by @creativepearl Should a business person be honest? I think that question is a very important topic to be discussed.

The reason is that I don't know why people would fail to put honesty in their business and be all focused on taking the maximum profit ever. Such attitudes can spoil a business, as somehow the whole truth will be revealed later in the future.

So here is the story I want to gist you all about:

A month ago, the pumping machine in my apartment got damaged, and we had to call someone who would work on it. The guy came around and wrote down the bills, including his workmanship, that we would pay. One of the things that made me suspicious of the guy was that he said he would need to buy a chemical for 8 dollars.

Then I began to suspect: why would a chemical be as expensive as 8 dollars for what reason? I felt he skyrocketed the price, but we had no choice since we really needed the machine to work. We all had to contribute to repairing the pumping machine.

After paying the whole money to the guy, would you believe that the guy used an additional 3 weeks to get the job done, something that should not have taken more than 3 days. The most annoying thing about the matter was that the guy was not picking his phone to give feedback. He was just making excuses that he was coming the next day.

Luckily for me, I ran home during that period, so I didn't feel much of the effect of not having water. The week the guy promised to do it again, I came back to Abk hoping it would be done, but the guy disappointed me again. There was no sign of him and no feedback.

After a lot of prayers and calls, the guy came back with the pump and was giving silly excuses for why he was not around. While he was giving the excuses, one question kept pumping into my mind: Why would you take a job when you knew you would not have time to complete it.

A SURPRISING MOMENT TODAY

Let us fast-forward to what happened today that was surprising. The pumping machine went bad again for almost a week after it had been repaired. We have been contacting the guy who previously worked on it to come check it out, but no, he kept saying he would come the next day but never did.

The head tenant in the apartment decided to call another plumber to check it out. The guy arrived the next day, and we told him all that had happened. To our biggest surprise, there was an item that the previous plumber called for us for $18, and when this present plumber saw it, he laughed and said we had been scammed.

The item was said to be $18 by the previous plumber, but the present plumber we called said it was just $4.5 alone. We were shocked by the difference in price and were wondering why the guy would have scammed us this much.

We had to be sure if the present plumber knew what he was talking about, and he repeated the same thing. The price of the item is just $4.5.

This information surprised and also annoyed everyone in my apartment, including myself. I hope the previous plumber still comes around so that he can explain himself.
