A special meeting, with two new friends, who love to see each other in selfie videos! (Photo + Video) - [ENG-ITA]

Monday began with a beautiful sunny day, with temperatures typical of a much later spring season. The trees were in bloom, the meadows were green and rich in colorful flowers ranging from purple to yellow. But I hope the rain comes soon, otherwise these beautiful colors will soon be lost, leaving room for burnt land because where abundant water flowed in the spring, only the dust of the sand moved by the wind remains.

Hoping for a turnaround, today I went out to explore nature, looking for subjects to capture with my new photographic equipment so that I could become more familiar with it. I headed towards the top of some local mountains, specifically Monte Zovo (Vicenza), a hill about 600 meters high that separates the two main plains of Vicenza. Covered in dense forests and given the premature activity of nature, I was hoping to encounter some raptors to capture with the telephoto lens, but I was unlucky, I only saw one that was too far away and flying. So I took some floral and insect photos, just to not come back empty-handed, but at a certain point, I tried to change areas.

Il lunedì è iniziato con una splendida giornata di sole, con temperature tipiche di un periodo primaverile molto più inoltrato, gli alberi sono in fiore, i prati sono verdi e ricchi di fiori variopinti che vanno dal viola al giallo. Ma spero che arrivi presto la pioggia, perchè altrimenti questi splendidi colori andranno presto perduti, lasciando spazio a terre bruciate, perchè dove prima scorreva abbondante acqua in primavera, rimane solo la polvere della sabbia che viene mossa dal vento.

Sperando che arrivi presto una svolta, oggi sono uscito ad esplorare un po' la natura, alla ricerca si soggetti da immortalare con le nuove attrezzature fotografiche, così da poter prendere sempre più confidenza. Mi sono diretto verso la cima di alcuni monti locali, più precisamente il Monte Zovo (Vicenza), un colle di circa 600 metri, che divide le due principali pianure Vicentine. Ricoperto di folti boschi e vista la prematura attività della natura, speravo di incontrare alcuni rapaci da immortalare con la tele ottica, ma sono stato sfortunato, ne ho visto solo uno troppo distante ed era in volo. Così ho fatto qualche foto floreale e agli insetti circostanti, giusto per non tornare a casa a mani vuote, ma ad un certo punto ho provato cambiare zona.

Descending along another slope of Monte Zovo, I saw two beautiful horses grazing, and since there was a convenient clearing to park, I thought of stopping just to take a couple of photos from afar. I started taking some photos, the horses were about 30/40 meters away from me, but they completely ignored me, even when I tried to call them, there was no sign of interest. I was about to leave when I saw the brown male turning around and starting to walk towards me out of the corner of my eye. At that point, I waited, and the horse came up to just a few meters away from me. It was clear that it was very curious about the camera and was staring at it, but it remained a bit guarded. So I put it on the ground and called it, and without much hesitation, it came closer, I slowly extended my arm, and it let me stroke it. At that point, the white female, seeing that there was no danger, came directly to be petted as well.

Scendendo lungo un altro versante del Monte Zovo, ho visto due bellissimi cavalli al pascolo e dato che vi era uno spiazzo comodo per parcheggiare, ho pensato di fermarmi giusto per scattare un paio di foto da distante. Ho iniziato a fare qualche foto, i cavalli si trovavano circa a 30/40 metri da me, ma ero completamente ignorato, anche se provavo a chiamarli, non vi era nessun cenno di interesse. Stavo per andarmene quando con la coda dell'occhio vedo il maschio marrone che si gira e inizia a camminare verso di me. A quel punto ho aspettato e il cavallo è arrivato fino a pochi metri da me, si notava che era molto incuriosito dalla fotocamera e la fissava, ma rimaneva un po' in guardia, così l'ho posata a terra e l'ho chiamato, senza esitare molto si è avvicinato, ho allungato un braccio lentamente e lui si è lasciato accarezzare. A quel punto, anche la femmina bianca, vedendo che non vi era nessun pericolo è venuta direttamente lei a farsi accarezzare a sua volta.

At that point, I had established a relationship of trust, and a selfie with my two new friends was necessary, and that's when the fun began. After taking some portrait photos of both of them, I turned around and activated the front camera of my smartphone to take a video selfie with them. Well, when they started to see themselves on the phone screen, their curiosity exploded, and they both wanted to get closer and closer and were staring at it continuously. To the point that, in my strange way of doing things, because I always talk to all animals convinced that they can somehow understand me, I asked the horses if they could see that it was them in the image, and I swear that they nodded their heads. To the white horse, I asked three times if she could see that it was her, and three times she moved her head up and down as if to say yes, something she had never done before or after the video. Maybe I'm crazy, I don't know, but I think she understood that it was her, maybe she wasn't directly answering my question, but it was like a sign of approval of her image, I don't know, but I like to think that she was saying yes.

A quel punto avevo instaurato un rapporto di fiducia, un selfie con i miei due nuovi amici era di dovere e li è stato il bello. Perchè dopo aver scattato qualche foto ritratto ad entrambi, mi sono girato e ho attivato la camera frontale dello smartphone per fare un video selfie con loro. Beh, quando hanno iniziato a vedersi nello schermo del telefono, la loro curiosità è esplosa, entrambi volevano avvicinarsi sempre di più e lo fissavano continuamente, fino al punto che io un po' così, nel mio strano modo di fare, perchè parlo sempre a tutti gli animali convinto che mi possano capire in qualche modo, ho chiesto ai cavalli se vedevano che erano loro nell'immagine e vi giuro che facevano il cenno si con la testa. Al cavallo bianco, ho chiesto tre volte se vedeva che era lei e tre volte ha mosso la testa su e giù come per dire un si, cosa che non ha mai fatto né prima né dopo il video. Magari sarò pazzo io, non lo so, ma secondo me aveva capito che era lei, magari non rispondeva direttamente alla mia domanda, ma era come un cenno di approvazione della sua immagine, non lo so, a me però piace pensare che mi abbia proprio risposto di si.

I felt it was a magical and special moment, I mean all the time spent in contact, I felt a real connection with those two beautiful creatures. So much so that when I said goodbye to them, they seemed sorry that I was leaving, but I had been there for over half an hour talking, taking photos, and petting them. Now I'm just waiting for @giovi86 to come home tonight because she has a great love for horses, and I'm convinced that if not tomorrow, one of the next few days she will definitely want me to take her to see them, and I'll be happy to do so. Well, what else can I say, the photographic day started quietly, but then nature with its wonderful creatures managed to give me a new special moment to remember.

L'ho sentito proprio come un momento magico e speciale, intendo tutto il tempo trascorso a contatto, sentivo proprio una connessione con quelle due splendide creature. Tanto che quando li ho salutati, sembravano dispiaciuti che me ne stessi andando, ma ero rimasto più di mezzora a parlare, fare foto e accarezzarli. Ora aspetto solo che torni a casa @giovi86 questa sera, perchè lei ha un amore grande per i cavalli, sono convinto che se non è domani stesso, uno dei prossimi giorni vorrà sicuramente che la porti a vederli e io lo farò volentieri. Beh, che altro dire, era partita in sordina la giornata fotografica, ma poi la natura con le sue meravigliose creature ha saputo donarmi un nuovo momento speciale da ricordare.
