A hectic day for mass Feeding - House warming celebration

Mass feeding does means to feed number of people with the food prepared in a central kitchen. So it was a long day in office for relatives and family. In Villages, whenever we have such ocassion, like marriage, reception or any gathering, only the family members and relatives were suppose to involve in feeding all the population. No caterers , no helpers. The population not only consistes of people from own village but also from neighbouring areas.

Yesterday, I was part of one such ocassion, when we have a house warming celebration nearby for my brother in law.

It was a new building, for them. In India, people shift to new house after many rituals and pujas. On this ocassion we had a 3 days of yagna. There were many hymns, rituals to follow, which ends with hawan. It is like a mini festival.

On the third day we have gathering to feed the locals, relatives and other people. When I say locals, I mean the entire population living nearby. The rush is also because my brother in law is village head, with a good reputation among the masses. Yesterday, we have feeded more than 2000 people from after noon till late at night.

The number keeps on Increasing every minutes. While we have a set of people eating, by the time they finish, other group of people occupy the vacant spots to seat. Such was the rush, that we didn't get time to relax. People keep coming, keep eating as much as possible and then leaving.

To move on with mass feeding g, it is important to have the food ready un advance. And rightly so we had a good amount of food ready. We have puri, mix veg, and dal fry alongwith kheer as sweets. The kgeer is kind of Indian dessert. And this one entirely been cooked using pure cow milk.

Following on the traditional custom and tradition, these kind of satvik food were eaten by sitting on the floor. So every people does that happily. All.of them enjoyed and by the time it ended our legs were too tired to move. But the day goes very well, with some memorable walk throughout the day.

@tattoodjay Have you ever seen such #wednesdaywalk. Where we keeps walking and moving entire day.? It was too hectic for a newbies. But for us it was some good feeling.

Peace !!

Namaste @steemflow

Good day @steemflow. That was remarkable, to feed so many people in just one (very long) day is fantastic. Really a lovely post, I enjoyed your rituals and traditions.

Be well.

In India we have many mass kitchens running to feed the people...but this kind of arrangement / reception at village level is alwsys great because it is done by a single individual.
