Mastodon - Alternative To Twitter ?

After Elon Musk started its controlling on Twitter and started bringing changes like monitoring blue verified tick account. Many users have started looking for best alternative to Twitter. The users are ready to jump on any next similar platform and one name that saw a significant growth in its users base is #mastodon.

Mastodon is a 6 years old platform has over 655 thousand user with over 230 thousand joining in the last week since Elon took over Twitter control. The number speaks the volume and the creator of the platform were quite happy finding the sudden surge in user base. It is not as big as Twitter. But given the addiction the user find on Twitter, It comes alive to be great alternative.

Mastodon is a free to use platform. The platform gives ads free experince to their user. The platform is developed by non profit run creator named Eugen Gargron. It is supported by crowdfunding.

Mastodon looks like Twitter. Account users can make post and their posts were called toots. The post can be liked, replied, or reposted by other user. They even follow back each other. While Twitter theme revolves around Birds, #Mastodon has chosen the furry big animals like big mammal that got exitinct thousands of years ago as it's mascot.

The platform is managed by independent user server. Users are based one server but they can interact freely with other server too. There are different categories like music, art, tech, gaming etc and the user can chose their own vertical to remain active and share their toots. The creator oslf the server decides the rule and moderate the content. It is completelly decentralized platform.

Shoul you Join?? is completelly based on your choices. One of the criticism the platform has received so far is that it is bit complicated to use and also they were facing a lot of issue with sudden surge of new user accounts.
#Mastodon comes into limelight , in 2019 after many Indian users accounts were censored by #Twitter. It is too early to get to any option. As per an information the the original creator of Twiter Jack Dorsey too is working on new decentralized social networking platform called #bluesky.
