Conspiracy theories turned out to be true

I found more content on my favorite subject, Conspiracy theories!
I have now found some conspiracy theories that turned out to be true. Some seems so obviously true but at the time big companies and the Goverment spend a lot of money to hide it.

1. The Roswell incident and cover up
   Can a post about conspiracy theories be a post about conspiracy theories without without UFOs , aliens and flying saucers ??
   In 1947 a military balloon fell and United States Army Air Forces officers from Roswell Army Air Field retrieved some metallic and rubber debris. In 1970 retired lieutenant colonel Jesse Marcel, in an interview with ufologist Stanton Friedman, said he believed the debris he retrieved was extraterrestrial. It turned out that the a cover up did happened and the balloon that fell was part of project Mogul sensors for experimental monitoring of Soviet nuclear testing.

2. The FBI spying on activists
   From mid 50s to early 70s were the golden years of the activism and the equal rights movement a lot of the people involved always thought that the FBI were spying on them even if that was illegal later it was found that the FBI had a secret project called COINTELPRO was a series of covert and illegal[1][2] projects actively conducted by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) aimed at surveilling, infiltrating, discrediting, and disrupting domestic American political organizations. FBI records show COINTELPRO resources targeted groups and individuals the FBI deemed subversive, including feminist organizations, the Communist Party USA,anti–Vietnam War organizers, activists of the civil rights movement and Black Power movement (e.g. Martin Luther King Jr., the Nation of Islam, and the Black Panther Party), environmentalist and animal rights organizations, the American Indian Movement (AIM), Chicano and Mexican-American groups like the Brown Berets and the United Farm Workers, independence movements (including Puerto Rican independence groups such as the Young Lords and the Puerto Rican Socialist Party), a variety of organizations that were part of the broader New Left, and white supremacist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and the far-right group National States' Rights Party

3. False justification for war
   Gulf of Tonkin incident was a proven confrontation on August 2, 1964, carried out by North Vietnamese forces in response to covert operations in the coastal region of the gulf, and a second, claimed confrontation on August 4, 1964, between ships of North Vietnam and the United States in the waters of the Gulf of Tonkin The outcome of these two confrontations was the passage by U.S. Congress of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, which granted U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson the authority to assist any Southeast Asian country whose government was considered to be jeopardized by "communist aggression". The resolution served as Johnson's legal justification for deploying U.S. conventional forces to South Vietnam and the commencement of open warfare against North Vietnam. Well as you can imagine it turned out that the second attack that was the one that the US retaliated NEVER HAPPENED..
