My son, my son, what have you done? (2009)
Wednesday suggestion. Watch it and thank me later πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
From Werner Herzog, I haven't seen much (only Aguirre & Fitzrarraldo, even though his filmography rivals Woody Allen's quantitatively), and I was drawn to it by the title...

The premise is simple - a guy committed a crime, locks himself in a house and takes 2 hostages, while a policeman tries to learn the backstory and convince him to get out of the house
Based on a true story, it reminded me of Session 9 which had a similar source

Produced by David Lynch, oh well, I'm talking!
Michael Shannon star, shines his eye nicely for the role
Grace Zabriskie as his mother, creepy, we have learned from Lynch in most of his works
Willem Dafoe the cop, in a grounded role this time
Udo Kier, I didn't expect him here, I've only seen him in Lars Trier in general, as an old teacher of the protagonist
etc etc

SPOILERS ahead watch out

and where you expect a thriller, you get subtle black comedy with a bit of ancient tragedy in between - as expected from the names, and Lynch and Herzog have trolled us like this again
I'm not saying this in a bad way, but don't expect tension and agony, it reminded me more of Monty Python in a lower tone
